Hi I have the version 3.5.4 as my forum here (http://www.mkpitstop.co.uk/forum) and i am really thinking of going for the new version 3.6.2, but I run quite alot of mods and I dont no if they all will work on the 3.6.2,

What should I do as I dont want to damage my site and crash it etc etc, also how do i know if my style is able to work with this site

Has any one got any tip's and help on this, its just I have worked hard on the site and dont want to start making lots of bugs :(

Go for it. Most mods that work for 3.5 work with 3.6, and they usually have an updated 3.6 version. Have a look in the threads for these mods to see if they are compatible, and look in the 3.6 forum for modifications to replace the mods you have now.

Your style will most likely work, just have to revert the templates and redo your template edits.

Here is what I do.

Shut down forum.
BACKUP FORUM, especially the DATABASE.

Disable hacks.
Upload files over writing your current files.
Run Script.
Revert Templates, and fix them.
Re-Enable/Install 3.6 version of your hacks one by one to make sure everything looks good along the way.

Somewhere in there after you have ran the upgrade script you can open your forums again.

If you decide to go for this, good luck. It's easy, and unlikely you will run into any problems as far as I have experienced.

You can hold off the reverting of the templates until you have time to fix the template edits. But, just a matter of remembering what you edited and the code or where to find the code you edited it to.
