View Full Version : Why did you put referrer check into install button?

I have been using the link of those buttons in my manuals for some time now. But you put a referre check, so if someone clicks "install" in one of my manuals, they get a no_permission... That's very frustrating. Why do you need that?

The install button only works on this site and not from any external sources. This has been in place since early this year.

Yea, I've seen that thread. But I think there is a solution:

When a readme file in one of my installation manuals is opened and a link in it is clicked, there is no referrer (afaik) because the file is opened locally.

When an img tag "requests" the same URL, there is a referrer, and I don't think there is any way to circumvent that. :) So why not put protection only on those cases when there is a referrer?

So how come it shows a no_permission() when clicked in one of my manuals?

EDIT:
Nevermind, it's because I clicked the link in a manual that was opened online from my manual generator... It works fine when opened locally.
