what are the best ways to make sure your board wont be found by search engines or random people searching for unrelated stuff.

Im admin on a board that is.... lets say adult in nature, and it is totally private, but recently we have been being spidered by msn and google, and we are also showing up there.

What measures can be taken to ensure that the board remains completly private?

pop a robots.txt in the site root denying all spiders

Set the Unregistered / Not Logged In usergroup setting 'Can View Forum' to No.

make a text file called robots.txt

put in it


User-agent: *
Disallow: /forums/

assuming your forums are located at /forums/
if not alter the path to suit, upload to the root directory and watch the bots vanish after 15-20 mins :)
