Shazz, I'm sure you're trying to get a little attention to your forum, but really, there isn't anything about this skin that comes close to being inspired by your forum. I'd never have even know about your forum hadn't you posted it in this thread...
As for a fluid version, No, there will be no plan by me to release this in a fluid version, but there are many helpful people here and quite possibly someone may offer some code modifications to make it fluid.
As for PSD buttons, Sorry about that, they should have been in the zip file. I'll hunt these down and update the zip.
Thanks to everyone else that had something nice to say. Your comments are appreciated.

Please note, if you install this with 3.6.1 or 3.6.2 (when released) just select ignore style version. It does work with 3.6.1 and should have no problems with 3.6.2.

austrekkers; The smile box seems to be working fine on the demo. Not sure what your issue may be.
Red Matrix; If you are refering to the location of the images being in a directory above public_html (or forums) and not under the images directory, you can simply change the stylevars to have it get the images from whatever directory you want. There may be some templates as well that will need this changed too, as well as the CSS. Most of my styles images reside in the forum directory, just seems to be my preference :)
Belisario; You can add whatever navigation you would like to the navbar by editing the header.
Floris; Thank you for the compliments.

So if you right click on the missing images, select properties... That shows you where the image should be. If you copy and paste that into your browser and you see the image... then there may be another issue, but I am guessing that you won't find anything but a page not found error...
This have been installed I would imagine 50+ times with no problems with the folders. PM me your url, and I'll look at your site.

Okay, after installation I have a couple questions/issues.
First, where do I edit the text for the posts? The forum members say the light grey text is too hard to read....I'd like to make it a little bigger, and adjusting the text in the CSS fields in the ADMINCP did nothing.
Second, I'm getting a message saying these templates need to be updated or reverted.......I'm fairly new using VB and want to do this right...little help please.

Any help making this vBadvanced compatable? I've got a lot of broken images when using this style.
Edit: Nevermind, I reset the StyleVars locations and it fixed it. The only problem I have now is that my header on the forums isn't the same as what it is on my homepage. It's like background.jpg is called for the forums but not for vBadvanced. Any help on that?
Edit2: Fixed that too. If anyone is having problems with vBadvanced, do the following:
AdminCP --> Styles & Templates --> Style Manager --> All Style Options --> Body Extra CSS Attributes --> Change redbar/elements/background.jpg to the full URL (http://www.example.com/forums/redbar/elements/background.jpg)
I know that sounds like a duh moment, but just thought I'd help in case someone else has one of those moments.

Got mine installed in a snap - if you are missing anything on your frontpage index if you are using Vbadvanced then look at the page source (View > Source in Firefox, cant rmember what it is in IE) I just leafed through it and noted the locations that it was expecting the images to be in and copied them there too.

Wanna make a dark version of this mod to match my site (http://hardwarelogic.com)?
We use RedBar (http://forums.hardwarelogic.com) for the people that don't like the dark background and it works well....I thought maybe using the same general template would look uniform.
One other question....is there a way to implement the real navbar instead of just using links? Thats my only concern

missing psd files for buttons and having trouble making sense of the header assembly. Need to customize for our site. IE left top add logo. That was cool because psd was there. Couldn't find right top files didn't want to install until I was sure I could make it work. I'll keep an eye on this thread but will wait to install

navbar/header help for newbie
Hello all, this is my first post and I am a little clueless so hopefully someone here can help me out. I have downloaded markbolyard's excellent RedBar vBulletin Style and with the help of the forums and wiki I have had some success in customising it. I'd like to add a get new button to the main navbar (forgive me if I get the terms wrong, still new to this) but when I compare the navbar code in REDBAR to other navbar templates I find the differences in coding far enough apart to get confused.
I've had a rummage in the redbar>Navigation / Breadcrumb Templates>navbar area with no great success. How do I get the new posts link/button? I dont really understand how to code at all so would be greatful for any help. I've had a really good look round the support forum but couldnt see anything that would help - apologies if this has already been covered. Cheers!!!!

Great skin - thanks Mark.
This is exactly what I was after. I have made amendments to view it as a fluid skin at 100%.
The problem is that it works fine in Firefox, but when viewed in IE7 it appears as limited width. Any ideas? This is frustrating the hell out of me!
archaosus
12-05-2006, 06:30 PM
Check your stylevars for your main table width - it should be at 100% - you should also check your header and footer to ensure that they are at 100% as well rather than the fixed width.

Great style mark. *install*
I noticed a few people are having problems with images. It maybe that your download file has 2 redbar folders. Users maybe uploading the first folder which causes the urls to be off? ;)
www.3d-palace.com and www.3d-palace.com/forum - working in VBAdvanced nicely.
CrisActually you dont have it working correctly. :( You are missing some of the images in the footer & acouple of the urls aren't correct. But, you do have it close.
I am in the process of trying to figure out why or rather how?
Normally with vbadvanced you place the needed file in 3 locations & it takes care of it for you:
vBa CMPS / Default Settings / Header Replacements
vBa CMPS / Default Settings / Navbar Replacements
vBa CMPS / Default Settings / Footer Replacements
I have this in all 3 of my locations:
ajax.php
calendar.php
cron.php
external.php
faq.php
forumdisplay.php
global.php
index.php
image.php
login.php
online.php
member.php
memberlist.php
misc.php
moderator.php
moderation.php
newattachment.php
newreply.php
newthread.php
profile.php
private.php
register.php
search.php
subscription.php
usercp.php
vbseo.php
But, I have never had to edit a style for vbadvanced. So I am not sure what file would need to be added to the 3 locations?
I will let everyone know if & when i get it working.
Thanks, dreck

I was trying to figure out how too get rid of the "grey border" on both the right and left sides in vBadvanced. The "borders" weren?t showing up on the actual forums but were there in vBadvanced. All I did was remove the class="page" from the adv_portal style under vBadvanced CMPS Templates and it got rid of it. Not sure why or how this fixed it but it did.

I believe I have everything working right? The only problem is a page error on forum home page only:
Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: Syntax error
Code: 0
URL: http://www.thisdarncar.com/vb/
I will keep working on it.

Well I couldn't figure out what file needed to be add to the replacements. :(
So I just did the easiest thing without a possibility of missing something. I upload the redbar folder to my vbadvanced root dir. Thus, getting rid of any image errors. Not the fix I wanted but it works.
I too saw the message to revert 5 of the templates back to original. Also, I noticed that a few more templates had been edited. Out of the templates that had been edited, I reverted all of them back but the following:
footer
FORUMHOME
forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost
header
navbar
If you revert these templates it will affect the looks.
I also didn't like the "Main" button. It doesn't go with my vBa_CMPS page very well. So I edited the header template to add a "home/forum" & a "New Posts" button. This way when you are on home page you see forum, & when you are on the forum you see home. ;)
Find:
<a href="index.php">Main</a> <a href="usercp.php">User CP</a>
Replaced with:
<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT == 'adv_index'"><a href="$vboptions[bburl]"> Forums <else /> <a href="http://thisdarncar.com/index.php"> Home </if></a> <if condition="$show['member']"><a href="usercp.php">User CP</a> <a href="http://www.thisdarncar.com/vb/search.php?do=getnew">New Posts</a>

Hi Mark,
I am new to vBulletin, in fact this is my second day with a license. This is a great style. I have installed same and am very pleased.
As I was searching for styles, I found the following
http://www.vbdesigns.de/demo/?styleid=8
which is a rich European purple dark blue.
If you plan to add another color for redbar, I would like to suggest the color on the German skin, keep everything the same just substitute the red and call it darkpurplebluebar.
Thanks again.

I have this skin, but it was made by someone else....
http://www.menace-media.com/forum
Talk VB or someone like that

It was in fact made by me. Talkvb is no longer in existance, and the live preview now goes to my latest forum. Thats where you are confused. If talkvbulletin ever comes back, I'll switch the preview back over, but there were red x's in my origional post.
Note: This has been upgraded to 3.6.4 & 3.6.5.
Also note, due to time constraints, I cannot support these styles regularly. As I get back here to vb.org, I will try to help as I can.

Hi, I am using this style, and I love it I just had a question about setting fixed widths on my main page. I'm not sure exactly how to describe my problem, so I took a screenshot. I just need to know where in the template(s) I need to set these columns to fixed widths.

Installed it but how do I remove Monks Diner.
I went to the header and removed the link to vbulletin_logo_white and I inserted my logo.gif and of course changed url in the header
Monk Diner is still there :(

Please note, I am not supporting this style any longer, however you can PM me your URL and I'll let you know which file needs modified. The PSD I believe is included in the zip for you to replace the MonksDiner image.

Please note that all templates work with newer vbulletin software. all you have to do is click "ignore version" and it will work fine. I have 3.6.7 and am using this template no problem.. However I would LOVE a fluid version, or somebody to walk me through the steps on making it fluid

To change the to fluid you can:-
To to stylevars and change
also just above
<!-- /logo -->
In the header template .... change the td width to 100% for example
<td width="100%">
<!-- /logo -->
Hope this helps someone

How would I go about installing the left side banners at the top banner in the header like you have on your Smooth Red Style ?
Mark,
Thanks for a great style. It's so good that I want to use it and I am hoping you'll change your mind and support it.
Some things I'd like to see, if you so choose;
* Update the style for 3.6.8.
* Change the nav links to DHTML
* Include .psd files for the buttons, etc
* Include a fluid version
* Add some hack support you think are important
The biggest problem I have with this style is the fact that the nav links are in the header. I have yet to figure out how to make drop down links that retains the formatting. I've spent at least 15 hours tinkering trying to make that work. I hope that you can add this functionality when you find the time.
Again, great style!

I want to add some text in the center of the red header next to the logo. However I am unable to do this successfully. Can someone help me out here?

I couldn't agree more. I love the template, but hate the fact that the nav bar is so cluttered because I can't have a drop-down menu.

I am facing some problems using this style.....
When i installed the Vb Advanced CMPS, I got the following during the installtion process:
Image Paths for Styles:
body------- a:7:{s:10: -------- The check box was unchecked and the whole line was in RED color. I couldn't understand what body is and what has to be entered in the URL.
When I open my site with the www.mysite.com URL, i dont get my logo which is supposed to come in the CMPS Portal Page.
Kindly advice on the above issues..
Thanks

That's not a style error, it just sounds like the path is incorrect. If you PM me your site name, I'll have a look at it for you and let you know how to correct it.

There seems to be alot of request for this style in a 3.7 version, so I will make it a point this week to recode it for 3.7 Beta 5 this week and release it.
Thanks for your interest and I will post back with the new release url.
