Custom layout and a side nav bar and banner ads that rotate with every page refresh

I think I can probaly make a layout on the index page but what I need help with is having supporting members to where when a person signs up to be a supporting member (one of the subscription options) then they get a logo with supporting member on it.
also in threads can I have the users info on the left side and not above there posts? like the aim and msn and avatars?
