hey folks,
I was wondering if anyone could give me the low down on groups? I don't really know anything about them and I think they could be beneficial.

Thanks

Usergroups specify specific users in that main usergroup.

ie. Admins
Supermods
Mods
Registered Users
etc.

All registered users will register and be in the registered users group.
If you want to put someone in a specific category, basically. Edit user and pick which group to put that person in the drop panel. Simple as that.

Thnx, I understand how usergroups work though. I was talking about the other part in peoples' profiles called "Group memberships" "Soandso is not a member of any public groups"

This is what i dont quite understand.

Thanks
John

Thats for like custom usergroups. Soandso isnt a part of "Elite members".

Hes probably only apart of registered members only, until you put him over there.

I've been asked the same question by a new member on my forum. If anyone could help out I would be grateful.

Thanks

You can set a Usergroup to be a Public Joinable Usergroup (Public (Joinable) Custom Usergroups = Yes).

Public Joinable Usergroups can be selected by a member in their UserCP. they can join and leave these usergroups as they wish.

If you also assign one or more Usergroup Leaders (Add Usergroup Leader from dropdown menu after creating the group), then all join requests must be aproved before the member is added to the usergroup.
