Join only one public group

Hello,

Is there anyway to allow members to only be able to join one public group and not as many as they want?? Reason I ask is that I have created Joinable Groups as regions, and only one people to be in one region at a time.

However at the moment people are just adding as many as they can for the sake of it...

Please can you help me??

PS... I dont want to use group leaders as I have almost 7000 members and would take an age to filter who should be in where, I just need them to be allowed to choose one (maybe 2) groups and thats it!

I know this is an old post but I suddenly find myself needing this exact thing for the same reason. Has anybody come up with anything to do this?
