You don't need the TEmplate Cache thing for this to work so you know. So if you installed that under the impression it was needed you can remove it.
That I did. Any thoughts as to why this isnt working?

It could be other Hacks / Plugins interferring with the mood hack. I've run into a few here and there that stop this one from working.

very very nice hack,
i did turn off auto edit member info otherwise my mood was showing up twice in my profile.
Also at first i thought that there was a bug with the mod, because i couldn't see images, it seemed like it would hang, then i realised when i dragged and dropped the mood folder, i must have missed the images folder :)
after fixing my mistakes everything worked (still not sure about what the auto options do, but i'm happy with how it's working. This really is great.

A possible bug. Maybe. I'm using 3.6.4
Whenever I add new titles to the options of this mod in the admincp the dropdown menu disappears and I'm unable to choose anything.
I also inserted the title in the xml file and re-uploaded it with no luck of the mood changer appearing. To resolve this I then need to uninstall the product and then install it again before it appears by that time members who have selected moods need to reselect them again.
I thought I would bring this up so you know. :)

I installed this and it works well from the perspective that you can set your mood and then when examining user profiles, you can see current mood.
Isnt the mood also supposed to show up in posts? Mine is not. I have a custom template that I have.
Where and how can I get the rest of this mod to show up in my custom templates (if in fact it is supposed to).
I think I am correct in that moods should show up in posts and pms

As a heads up:
I didn't like the mood changer in the navbar, so I moved it to the bottom of the 'modifyprofile' template. It worked for changing the mood, but for whatever reason it kills everything else. With the code on that page, it breaks the user's ability to save any changes to any of the user profile fields.
Just a heads up if you run into it.

A little question, and supposedly it should be only a template problem. If you look at the profile;

The mood appears twice, which is the template I should be editing, sorry to bother!

In the quick_mood_change_by_sniper template
<span style="vertical-align: middle;">$vbphrase[my_mood]: </span><a href="#" id="moods"><if condition="!empty($bbuserinfo[mood])"><img style="vertical-align: middle;" src="images/mood/$bbuserinfo[mood].gif" border="0" /><else />$vbphrase[change_mood]</if></a>
In the ajax_start plugin
die("<img style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"images/mood/" . $new_mood. ".gif\" border=\"0\" />");
In the postbit or postbit_legacy templates
<if condition="!empty($post[mood])">

If what I already posted makes no sense to you, then I recommend you wait for the mod author to incorporate my changes if he/she decides to do so. ;)
deezelpope
03-26-2007, 10:34 PM
You added the images to the drop-down with just that coding? I can handle that!! But it's what you said about using 'optgroup'? I'm sorry, but ya lost me there.:o
hambil
03-26-2007, 10:41 PM
Oh. Optgroup is an html tag that allows background images.
So, I made this change to the select in the "[Mood Manager] - Make Drop Down Menu" hook:
foreach ($moodslist AS $mood)
{
$mood = trim($mood);
if ($mood == $vbulletin->userinfo['mood']) { $selectedmood = ' Selected'; } else { $selectedmood = ''; }
$vbmoods['mood'] .= '<optgroup style="background-image: url(images/mood/' .$mood. '.gif); height: 15px; width: 72px;"><option value="' .$mood. '"' .$selectedmood. '></option></optgroup>';
$vbmoods['mood'] .= "\r";
}
Also note that you need to make two small changes in the images. In Love.gif will need to have the space removed (and the name in settings needs the space removed to match). And Psychadelic.gif needs to be Psychedelic.gif (which technically is a problem with or without images in the drop-down, but might as well fix it) :)
I hard-coded the image size. If someone wanted to get all fancy they could probably make that more dynamic, but with the included images it works just fine.

I have no idea. I don't use vbAdvanced and this isn't my hack. Mostly I wanted to share my changes with the author. I do not really want to get into trying to support his hack. Step 2:
In the "[Mood Manager] - Ajax Update" plugin find:
die("<img src=\"images/mood/" . $new_mood. ".gif\" border=\"0\" />");
and replace with:
die("<img style=\"vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"images/mood/" . $new_mood. ".gif\" border=\"0\" />");
Step 3:
In the postbit and/or postbit_legacy templates find:
<if condition="!empty($post[mood])">
<div>
$vbphrase[my_mood]: <img src="images/mood/$post[mood].gif" border="0" />
</div>
</if>
and replace with:
<if condition="!empty($post[mood])">
<div>
<span style="vertical-align: middle;">$vbphrase[my_mood]:</span> <img style="vertical-align: middle;" src="images/mood/$post[mood].gif" border="0" />
</div>
</if>
Step 4:
In the "[Mood Manager] - Make Drop Down Menu" hook find:
$vbmoods['mood'] .= '<option value="' .$mood. '"' .$selectedmood. '>' .$mood. '</option>';
and replace with:
$vbmoods['mood'] .= '<optgroup style="background-image: url(images/mood/' .$mood. '.gif); height: 15px; width: 72px;"><option value="' .$mood. '"' .$selectedmood. '></option></optgroup>';
Step 5:
In vBulletin Options -> [Sniper] Mood Manager change "In Love" to "InLove"
Step 6:
In your images/mood directory on your server rename "In Love.gif" to "InLove.gif" and rename Psychadelic.gif to Psychedelic.gif
You should be good to go. But again, PLEASE use with caution, or better yet wait for the author of this hack to decide what to do with this. Thanks :)

Oh no, no! I know your intentions were good! Stuff happens, I know this.
I looked at everything you did, and did what you said, it just didn't work for me. No big deal.
And I don't think you're causing problems at all...you're just trying to improve an already awesome hack!
The alignment coding went swimmingly...putting the mood images in the drop-down just didn't go so well. But it's ok.
You don't have anything to feel bad about!

This is asked before but i saw no answer to it, so again this question. Is it possible to have the moodselector outside the navbar on forumhome and how to do that? :)
I'm still having the same problem. On my homepage the mood image shows up as a red x, but once you're in the messageboard index or deep in threads it shows up just fine. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Okay, the beta is ready. You can get it here (http://www.catnine.net/forum/showthread.php?t=58).
This beta may break your system, cause havoc, destroy the free world, etc... Do not try it unless you really want to help beta it.
Once the kinks our worked out it will be posted here in its hopefully full glory.

The points according the german translations goes to you - but that's a simple licensing issue ;)

The hack thread itself says what changes have been made, right at the top:
1.2.4
-----
- Aligned text and images for a cleaner look
- Changed dropdown to contain mood images instead of text, with admin option
- Added optional auto replace for postbit and postbit legacy templates
1.2.4 is the new version :)
It's got a whole forum to discuss issues. Just post your issue as a thread. Think of it as working like the premium support forums for some hacks here :)

Okay, I just found something which I think the modification creator should fix. In the product file, and what the menu looks for spells a mood as Psychedelic, but in the image file, it is named Psychadelic, which because they don't match, means anyone selecting this mood will have no icon (maybe a broken one) and no mood selector. I fixed this by renaming the image file in CPanel, but please could the author look into fixing this typo, as it renders the modification useless to anyone who chooses the wrong mood.

I fixed my problem by renaming all the images numerically (each mood renamed to its alphabetical equivalent number, eg. Aggressive = 1, Amazed = 2, etc.).
If anyone else is having the same problem, extract the attached zip into your "images/mood" folder (leaving the named moods).

The mood names should match the mood graphics file names. Changing it all to numbers may have worked for one person, but you are wandering off into unknown territory as that isn't what should be required. What browser are you using? Also, this doesn't work from portal pages, which is a known issue.

You can easily create new moods, just make the graphic and add the mood name in the admincp options. If you mean custom as in only specific users or usergroups can set it, no.

Or do you recommend do use the text-only option?
hm suggestion: change the option for display images by browser.
eg:
Display mood images
Firefox Yes
IE No
Operea No
hambil

IE should work fine (it auto-detects and just shows text). If you have a lot of user with Opera or some other uncommon browser then you probably want the text only option. You still get the benefit of the auto-replace and the text-image alignment.

I have a question. I just upgraded to 3.6.7 and I had to reinstall this and redo the templates. Now that I have redone the templates my mood in the membersinfo area looks kinda awkward.
I attached a screen. I can't seem to figure out what I have to edit to make it look normal. What do I have to edit to make the mood area in the white part just like the others. Help is appreciated :)
Also I've taken out the coding
<if condition="!empty($userinfo[mood])">
<strong>$vbphrase[my_mood]:</strong>
<br />
<img src="images/mood/$userinfo[mood].gif" border="0" />
</if>
Because it's always under the members signature in the membersinfo. Even without that coding the mood still appears in the Additional Information area.

3.6.7 has a few changes I think, so I will need to modify the instrustions a bit, I should be able to release the update tomorrow or friday. Also remove the auto edits to make things easier for future upgrades.

That's odd, i'm not having that issue and i did a search first to see if anyone had moved it to "modifyprofile" template, like me & you, I didn't like it in the navbar either.
You sure you didn't accidentally put it in one of the form tags?
<fieldset class="fieldset">
<legend><label for="tb_customtext">$vbphrase[my_mood]</label></legend>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="$stylevar[formspacer]" border="0" width="100%">
<tr>
<td colspan="2">$vbphrase[my_mood_explanation]</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>$usermoods</td>
</tr>
</table>
</fieldset>
I added the above code, above this line in "modifyprofile" template:
<if condition="$show['birthday_optional']">
I added my own explanation phrase as well, create the following phrase or ad your own phrase:

Has the hack creator thought of making this modification a bit more conforming to web standards? As in, adding the alt text for the mood image shown in the custom template and the post bit template?
Because, while I managed to semi fix this by changing the code in the post bit to this:
<if condition="!empty($post[mood])">
<div>
$vbphrase[my_mood]: <img src="images/mood/$post[mood].gif" border="0" alt="user mood" />
</div>
</if>
in the template and something similar in the quick_mood_change_by_sniper template, it would be nicer if the mood image had the alt text that corresponded to the mood shown in the image...
Very nice, thanks a lot. Just installed then. :D

I do now need to reset all my members moods - how might I go about doing that?
This is to prevent loads of members having images that don't exist or options no longer in existance (I am updating the list) and being unable to change it.
An admin option to change a members mood would be mighty handy!
But a reset will do fine!
Thanks so much for an awesome mod :)

Now click on the [<< >>] and locate postbit templates, open it........now depending on if your have your postbit at the top, you would select "postbit", if you have your postbit on the side, you would select "postbit_legacy"..
With the correct one open, look for <div>
$vbphrase[posts]: $post[posts]
</div>
and directly under that code you put <if condition="!empty($post[mood])">
<div>
$vbphrase[my_mood]: <img src="images/mood/$post[mood].gif" border="0" />
</div>
</if>
and that will put the moods in your post bit........
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ADVICE!!!! I've been trying to get this to work for quite awhile - I was adding the code to the postbit_legacy file - I didn't realize that if our postbit was at the top that it had to be in the postbit file. I bet this is a problem a lot of people have had - maybe should be added to the install file???
Anyway, THANKS! Our users are loving this mod already. I guess it pays to read through 33 pages of notes :D

Just to speed the process up, if you create/rename your mood icons, this little bit of VBscript will create a file called _List.txt which looks like this:Aggressive

as for running the query;
