Hi, need some advice/help.
We are running our forums on a virtual dedicated server, running Redhat Linux 9 (I think).
I would like to upgrade the MySQL to the current version, so I can upgrade to the newest vBulletin version.

Here's my problem: I can to the basic FTP stuff for vB upgrades. But I have no idea how to mess with the MySQL and pHpAdmin stuff. We had a guy set up the Linux server for us 2 years ago, but he's disappeared. I have been doing some reading, and found out how to get into the SSH terminal, where it gives you the opportunity to do line commands.
1) Is this where I go to do it?
2) Is the newest MySQL version compatible with RH LInux 9?

Thanks for any help!

Are you running any sort of control panel software such as plesk, direct admin, or cPanel?

Also depending on your VPS provider they may help you update the mySQL as well at no charge.

Yes, Plesk is the control panel.
And GoDaddy is our VPS provider, and they won't do it nor help us do it. I have asked repeatedly. :cross-eyed:
