Hi,
What's the best chat plugin for VB? I've read a bit on flashchat, it seems pretty good. Is there something better that requires users to have a VB account on the site to be able to use the chat etc and logs them in with their VB username and details which can't be changed and of course give Admins admin tools in chat (kick/ban etc).
What flashchat should I use for VB 3.6.1 and I hear there is a version that costs $5, and a free version, what's the difference?
Any feedback appreciated:)

We use the $5 version and love it! We have it integrated with vBulletin so that unregistered users can't access it and members are automatically logged in.
All admins and mods have the same privilages they do in the forums, controlled from the admincp.
It's also nice in that it has an easy chatlog to use, and basically everything on all ends (admin and user) is very friendly to the less technilogically-inclined.
I went through several other chats before trying this one, thinking that a $5 chat would be crap.
Feel free to make a quick account on our website and check it out--for $5 it's really an incredible buy!

Thanks for the reply!
What's the difference between the $5 version and the free version? We obviously want the best version for our site and wont let $5 get in the way. If we have a forum using vb 3.6.1, where should I get the flashchat mod? Also, I'd like the mod to remain in a page that shares the same style as the rest of the site, not open up in a new window:)
What is flashchats official site?

I hadn't actually heard of a free version. This is a total guess, but I'd say "free" = "illegal".
Flashchat's official page (http://www.tufat.com/chat.php) has a support forum that's great.
Paul M coded the integration mods. The first one is here, (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=120926) and the second one (for the What's Going On box) is here. (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=121884&highlight=flashchat)
One possibility with having the chat in a forum-style page would be to create a custom page through AdminCP.

If it's running on a poorly loaded server then yes, it probably is, you can help reduce the load by upping the refresh rate -even so, it's only really good for about 20/25 chatters maximum [on a good server] before it will start to seriously degrade - then again, it's only $5, you cannot expect miracles.
