Insert post into middle of thread

Has anyone tried writing a mod that allows one to insert a post into the middle of a thread for v3.6?

I have a thread that I update with new HD DVD releases each week. The original post is updated with new titles and vendor locations. However, the first post has become way too long, and I'd like to split it into two consecutive posts. Either that, or I'd like to cut some of the text from that post, use some sort of "insert new post here" function, and paste the cut text into the new post.

Anyone up for trying this?

Not what you're looking for, but this is how I do it using this mod, which btw works also with v3.6

Essentially this mod, in addition to lots of other things enables you to define the date/time stamp of a post. (don't forget to check the box next to the new time stamp to make it effective)

As such, what do re your situation is create a post in a private forum with the time stamp between the dates of the two posts in the thread you want it inserted to, then after submitting the post, simply move the post to this thread.

Actually it's much easier than I explained, to insert a post in the middle of a thread.
Simply use PostReply ...
- create date between date of the two posts to be inserted between
- Check ... Apply Custom Date & Time?
- Submit
