View Full Version : Need a new host
I'm not very good on the technical side of things so I don't really know what we need.
Our hosts at the moment are streamline but since they are no help at all when we have any problems we need to move.
The site is pretty small at the moment as it has only been open for around 3-4 weeks. We've got 500 registered members but only around 60-80 visit each day and there is only around 10-30 members online at any 1 time. We are hoping that this will grow to around 100-150 members visiting per day with 20-50 online at any one time in the next couple of months.
We've got vBPlaza installed (but it can be uninstalled if it makes finding a new server cheaper) along with vBookie.
Any suggestions what spec of server we'd need in terms of bandwith etc and does anyone have any companies they would recommend?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

We switched our VPS hosting over to KnownHost.com (http://www.knownhost.com/), and that was the best move we have ever made other than switching from UBB to vBulletin.
Service has been incredible, 24/7 support and I don't think we've ever had a support ticket not answered in under 15 minutes. We have semi-managed accounts, and I needed to install Zend Optimizer on one of the servers we had, and asked support which version (there was something like 15) I should download and install. I was looking for advice and abou 10 minutes later I got an E-mail saying they had just downloaded and installed it for us...I was stunned.
You can also go over to WebHostingTalk.com forums (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/) and look them up to see reviews by some of their peers over there.

Hostww is a great host. Quick customer service, 24/7 ticket/email/IM and phone support, fast servers... I couldn't be happier

They managed to delete our whole database which is a complete nightmare!
650 members down the drain cos i forgot to backup regular!!
We have moved to Bluehost who seem to be quite good so far!
Great support

We've found the customer service to be terrible.
They deny any problems despite me showing them screenshots of the problems posters are encountering and when I do get an answer it doesn't fix the problems I had in the 1st place.
We'll be moving shortly anyway.
