I reverted headerinclude to original, error message still popped up unfortunately.

Look for the htmlspecialchars() call in the vaispy.php script and remove it from the forums variable. This seems to be server dependent and not always a required change.

In my modified standart style this addon doesnt work. But in unmodified styles its work.
In one of my templates I have did a crap mistake its hard to find it out.. :(

You cannot run multiple timers on a page... this has been discussed before - if your header or footer uses some kind of timer, then vbispy and the other will conflict and likely neither will work properly.

I'd like a modification of this script that lets me have it just grab new posts in a specific thread. every day I have a couple very busy threads that it would be prefect for. Right now, people sit and hit refresh a million times. something like this that just flashed up replies as they happened (or close to it) would work out great

Is there a way to get this to work outside of the forum root?

I'm working on determining that myself. So far I've got it recreating the entire page with headers on another subdomain, and linking back to the boards, though it only shows the inital 4 or 5 posts when the page loads, and never cycles in new posts. So I'm still going to say it is possible, I just don't know for sure how.

ps: i have it only for selected usergroups. For those who want permissions can simply do this

We don't do anything for vBSEO in our product; you could put vbispy.php in your exception list to prevent the redirect.

If change the "spymax = 25" to 50 it doesn't go.

You also have to edit the html to support 50 rows; I know its been discussed in the early pages, I'm not inclined to keep repeating myself on it so check out the first few pages again.

If you are using the default template, I don't know what to tell you because I cant duplicate it or see the problem in your script.

The only suggestion I might see is to look at your $stylechar[charset] variable and see if that has some kind of issue.

Update: i had changed the file name. renaming it back seems to have fixed it?

Changing the filename or the code without knowing what you are doing will break it - the script calls itself and requires certain html to be present to work properly. Changing the number of items displayed and not changing the html or changing the filename and not updating how it calls itself will break it.

I'll dig through the code to see what is triggering this. I'll let you know when I find it. Threat level is medium, only the server/host can sniff the traffic, which are the same hosts that can sniff logins anyway.

Although the threads / posts refresh using AJAX, the "xx minutes ago" doesnt. When I refer to this, I mean when someone has posted, it timestamps and "xx" doesnt update with the threads and posts as they are made.

You can't run multiple polling products on the same page; only one timer can be running at a time. Probably the only way to make it work would be to combine the timer code of vbispy into the timer code of the shout.

It'll pull every 3-5 minutes from your site and put anything new in the queue; depends on the amount of stuff coming in when yours appears. Did you try limiting the feed to only show those within your category? Also your site status should show how many posts have been pulled form your site.

It works in 3.7 on one of my sites.

This is my favorite mod too. It could be expanded (if the developer chose) to be very powerful for a forum operator by adding the ability to include content from other RSS feeds and also by showing the "Who's Online" names, perhaps in a vertical Chat-room style format, on the right or left side.

I just see this particular tool with so much potential to help a forum operator expand their site and gain members by creating that "live" feel.

I would also like to see it include complete posts.... just random thoughts I guess.

Yes, it can be done, but you'd need to tweak the html to only show a couple threads (I did this a while back to show just two threads on forumhome in a "live" show). I don't have specific instructions, but you'd probably have to take some of the php code and put it into a plug-in as well.

Ok, first off - great mod, thanks! I've read through this entire thread and can't figure this out... It's working great in Firefox but will not refresh the page in IE7. I stripped out all of the $header, $headinclude, and $footer stuff from the output (I call this via iframe so i don't need the vb templates around it). Works great otherwise, but I just dont get the refresh or any of the effects in IE... Like I said, FireFox works perfectly.. very strange. Any ideas?

Really great mod, like it alot.

I have it installed on a custom skin running on VB3.7 RC1 and it works great.

My only issue is I'd like to change the width of the columns to improve the layout for my site. I looked in the .php file but didn't see where I could change the column widths. Admitteldly, I'm not a coder, or a programmer but I am good at following directions if someone points me in the right direction.

I have a section of code at the top of this page which displays a news ticker. I have an option in User CP > Edit Options to enable this ticker on other areas of my forum. I have an <if> statement which checks for the profile field to be true and then shows the banner.

I require New Post just links to thread id and not last post in that thread, please help.

Theres an update to the file va_prototype.js that in the clientscript folder.
just go to the website listed below and download and rename.
This might help some with issues.

I don't know if it is about this but I've recently upgraded vbseo and vaispy.php has gone.
I can see ...com/vaispy.php on the address bar but it shows the index page.
before that it worked fine

This is having formatting issues in Opera 9.5.

have a look at the Viper Alley demo in the first post to see what I mean, as it's behaving exactly like that on my site too.

Basically all the table borders are missing and the alignment is wrong, the column "Event" has lost its title too.

there is definitely something going on with the app. Whle it was active I used to get max users connected in mySQL every couple of days. After i have disabled it everything is fine and its been 7 days without the max users error.

Your problem seems to be your decimal sep ($vbulletin->userinfo['lang_decimalsep']).

Although, to fix it, you could try editing your vaispy.php file:

FIND
$thread['views'] = vb_number_format($thread['views']);

REPLACE WITH

$thread['views'] = vb_number_format($thread['views']);
$thread['views'] = str_replace('&nbsp;', '', $thread['views']);

Some messages in some threads are not listed, although they should be listed in the shown time frame. Some messages before and afterwards are listed but some not.

Its not a question of rights, I am admin and see the other messages in the threads...
