Every forum suffers from threads full of off topic posts. How about a hack where users could mark a post as "off topic". Posts that received enough "off topic" votes would automatically be minimized to future readers of the thread, reducing the amount of muck they have to wade through. If someone wanted to read them, they could be expanded via ajax with a single mouse click.
The threshold for when how many votes would constitute a post being off topic could either be admin set or each user could set their own threshold for off-topic posts.
Of course, it would get really interesting to show in everyone's profile and/or postbit how many 'off-topic' posts they have, and maybe even show that as a percentage of their overall posts.
