How to put user-info to the side in the postbit

This is a very simple question, but I wonder the following:

How do I put the user-info in the postbit so that it is to the side instead of on the top as it is by default?

Can this be done by an easy setting in the forum or style options in the admin cp, or do I have to change the postbit html-code?

If so, what do I change the code to?

So, another "newbie" question: Is there an easy way to have the left column in the postbit to have a certain minimal size? (so that it won't shrink when a user has a small avatar, for example)
