vbDrupal is a fork from the Drupal CMS which integrates Drupal (http://drupal.org) with the vBulletin forum software.
This is the stable release of the next generation of the vbDrupal project. This generation is much more compatible with the stock Drupal releases than the previous generation. It has been rebuild from the ground up taking into account everything that we learned from the previous generation.
All third party modules and themes for Drupal should also work with this version of vbDrupal.
This version of vbDrupal is based on Drupal version 4.7.8.
It has been designed to work with vBulletin versions 3.5 and 3.6.
More information and install and update instructions can be found in the README.html file included with this package.
For support, tips and trick, etc. please go to our forums (http://www.vbdrupal.org/forum).

So how is this product different from the vB Drupal: Community Plumbing (CMS + Blogs) product?
This is pretty much a complete reimplementation of the concept. The previous generation suffered from some design issues making it difficult for users to use various 3rd party modules. Also this version is based on Drupal 4.7 where the previous generation used Drupal 4.6.

I took this opportunity to finally experiment with Drupal.
Installation seems to have been flawless.
One problem...
This error message when I try and customize stuff...
* warning: mkdir(files): Permission denied in /home/********/public_html/forums/drupal/includes/file.inc on line 91.
* The directory files does not exist.
Am I missing something simple?

Can you give us a list of modules that have been tested and working for vB Drupal NG?
They should all work, just make sure you download the 4.7 version of the modules. So far I haven't heard of a module that didn't work.
A word of caution, make sure you replace all your 3rd party modules in your old site with new versions made for 4.7 otherwise you might get various errors. That's why you should test the upgrade on a test install version.
what about 3.5.4 does it work ?
It should work with all 3.5 and 3.6 versions. It just that I develop it using the latest 3.5 version and use it on my own site which uses the latest (stable) 3.6 version. So I don't really test it for older versions, but Jelsoft's track record shows they hardly ever change something in stable versions that break plugins, specially not the plugins used by vbDrupal.

The report page after the upgrade had some errors in it; the page is attached as a zip cause I cannot upload a html file here ^_^ Search ctrl-F for 'failed'. The blogs also still don't work http://www.wereldwijzer.nl/blog/
Does anyone have a clue? I installed it on 3.6
Already asked it on vbdrupal.org yesterday but we have no answer yet and the blogs are quite important for us :(

Great mod.. working perfectly at my offline vb 3.6.1. I am playing with the settings at the moment and will take it online shortly. Just a little problem. When I try to turn the vbulletin profile links for the latest users/birthdays module.. the path to profiles has an extra slash in it. How am I supposed to fix that? Also, I am only going to use it for member blogs.. is there a way to include latest blogs (or entries for that matter) in the WOL at forum's home?
Above all, it's a great modification, just what I was looking for.
I don't see any htaccess file. Where is it?
Additionally, I'm getting tons of access denied errors in the watchdog module.
I had the same problem.. .htaccess_new is hidden in the archive. Extract the archive to your PC.. use the tools>folder options> show all files. You will then see it in your directory or where you have extracted it: drupal/ For your convenience I am uploading it here.
As for the access denied errors.. have you allowed access to your members?

I have a problem with this. I did a clean install and I can not add content with my own username or any other username. It just tells me that the "user" does not exist even when he does. I tried with blank and that worked.
I also logged in as another user and I managed to add content, even when this user was not supposed to exist in the first attempt.
anyone knows what the problem is ?
Thanks :)

sorry to disagree but i look in the 3.5 categories for updates and new releases still as alot of the plugins i use are either NOT ported to 3.6 or dont work on it yet so I'm waiting until my entire board can be re-implemented on the new version. I waited quite sometime before upgrading to 3.5 for the same reason. I'm interested in the durpal side of things as vbjournal hasn't been updated for quite sometime and I'd like to use the blog system instead.

Just found the thread to point out that we at alleria have it installed!
Utterly fantastic, I'm using the views and actions module to build our content navigation and so on.
For those using this for blogging, i recommend a free tagging vocabulary for blog entries, and using the blogger and tagcloud modules from drupal.org!
How do I change my theme? The option is no longer there, the only templates in the vBulletin admin panel are vb drupal legacy templates.
Caerydd

You can change theme by going to themes in the admin panel of vbdrupal(http://yoururl.com/?q=admin/themes or http://yoururl.com/admin/themes , depending on whether you have clean urls installed). vbDrupal comes with defaultangy, which pulls your default vbulletin style, but the developers have also bundled phptemplate themes. These are themes developed for normal drupal sites, but which also work pretty seamlessly with drupal.
They are somewhat easier to customise, if you want a different look.

Does this work for sites where the forum is located on a sub-domain, like http://forum.mysite.com and the main site is at www.mysite.com?
Thanks in advance. I look forward to give this a try.

That's uh, odd. Never done that for me. Try posting over at the support site. http://www.vbdrupal.org
Elmuerte is kinda busy, but the quality of the support and released bug fixes are good.
You can get it to change to another one by deleteing the phptemplate theme folder of the theme you switched to. Tweaks to defaultangy can be done through adding css to a style.css file in the defaultangy folder.
HappyPike - I believe it does, you just have to make sure the correct paths are set. For example I have vbdrupal at alleria.com and the forums in a subdir.

Very nice program, i was wondering though, I know it states there are no changes made to Vb core files, are there any changes made to the vb databases? I know the drupal db's are added in, but any changes to the vb core databases? The reason I ask is if I decide to stop using drupalNG can I just delete the drupal files and thats a complete disconnect between the two ?
thanks

No alterations are made to the vbtables :) you can just disable the plugin and delete the files, and the drupal_ tables in your database, and your vbulletin will be standalone again.
Conversely, you can also take the drupal tables from your database, and use them to create the basis for a standalone version of true drupal.

Please post on the vbdrupal.org forums for support from the developer!
Also make sure you are using defaultangy theme and not defaultvb!
I can't get a response from anyone at vbdrupal, the site is dead.
I upgraded to the newest version from a pretty old version. This ruined how I had my templates set up. I can't change the templates in the admin control panel any more, all the templates listed are vbdrupal (legacy). After trying to switch to defaultvb theme whenever I try to access a vbdrupal page I get a blank white page.

Funny, Elmuerte seems to be replying over there quite a lot. He is the only 'main coder' and like many people over here has other commitments. Posting back in this thread will not get you support any quicker.
Regarding defaultvb (http://www.vbdrupal.org/forum/showpost.php?p=4143&postcount=3)
How to submit bugreports (http://vbdrupal.org/forum/announcement.php?f=7)
You are recommended to switch to the defaultangy template, as defaultvb is no longer supported. As I said, he does log in regularly, although it takes a few days sometimes. Submitting the full information will get you help quicker.
I know it sucks to have the drupal part of your site not working, but this is a fantastic piece of code, and only a few people are coding for it. Some patience is needed.
Now the main problem is I can't run update.php since I'm not shown as Admin, and I can't log in due to not being admin when the site needs an upgrade.
Also, mod rewrite is overloading the server. :(
Caerydd
02-13-2007, 01:19 AM

I have vbdrupal and have been trying to get it to work for over a week now. I found it through another site and downloaded and installed version 4.7. I want to find a WYSIWYG formatter to replace text area fields, but the htmlarea and the tinymce neither seem to work for me. The htmlarea will let me format text, but will not allow me to put images into my posts. The tinymce will not show up. Anyone here using either of these successfully? If so, could you link to your drupal page and let me see it in action. Everywhere on the vbdrupal site it says htmlarea works, but I cannot find it fully working anywhere. Thanks.
