This style was developed by my firm Epic Designz as a promotional tool for a new site called YourIndex. This style is free to be used on any forum provided that you retain the small promotional message in the footer (We made it as unobtrusive as possible.) The package includes the full set of PSD's, so you can make changes to suit your board or apply the same layout to non-vBulletin portions of your site. If there are any problems with the style, please report them to me in this thread, so I can get them resolved as quickly as possible.

now that is one very nice theme, just wondering, how do i change the width of the column on the left?That would be in the FORUMHOME template, and it's currently set to 250 I think (Just do a text search for width="250", and you'll find the spot.)

I found out what the problem is with the legacy postbit, it is tied to a hard coded width and works fine in Firefox but in IE it is completely crappy looking. I'm using the stock template with no changes and it isn't working well.

Attempting to setup the IBPro Arcade into that template, and cannot find various things in the templates.

In postbit_legacy template cannot find <if condition="$post['joindate']"><div>$vbphrase[join_date]: $post[joindate]</div></if>

In navbar template cannot find <td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="calendar.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[calendar]</a></td>

Andrew
08-25-2006, 03:14 PM
The first bit is different because of the background and borders I place around postbit items - Just do a text search for "$vbphrase[join_date]", and you shouldn't have a problem finding it.

As for the navbar item, I moved the navbar into the header template, so if you look in there instead, you should easily find the spot to add your link.

Thats the main problem, the navbar was in the header, cleared that up, added what was needed. Works fine now, juts have to edit the color codes for the arcade and plaza.

Nice skin!
I have a question though. When I create a new forum it does not appear in the right frame (on the home page) but rather takes space across the entire width. It also seems to be missing the borded around it.
I'd like to know if anybody else has that problem... ?

Thanks,

You need to create categories and add forums into the categories - Adding top level forums won't work with the category spacing mod.

I did.

Looking through the folder, I might know where the problem is (just not how to solve it).

in the Blaze folder (same folder that the images folder is in), there's some files called:
layout.html
small button.psd
subforums.psd
blanklogo.psd
large button.psd

etc

which directory should these be uploaded to?

hi,

i have one question concerning your style and flashchat!

normaly in the standard style you have to edit "navbar" template.

"At this point, you should be able to edit some HTML code directly from within your web browser. Locate this text:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="login.php?$session[sessionurl]do=logout"
onclick="return log_out()">$vbphrase[log_out]</a></td>

and insert "<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="chat/flashchat.php"
target="flashchat">FlashChat</a></td> ".

with the default style this is easy. but where in the "navbar" template of BLAZE do i have to put the line in? i can't locate the position :( maybe you can help?!

greetings

I also got a small problem, there's a few images not shown, and I have no clue were the problem might be (see attachment),

look at the left side of the title "A few Addons/Updates" , and then you'll see, that the image source is somewere in a folder called "tren_z", but I can nowere find that folder in my vB forum Folder...

Any clue?

There does seem to be an issue with either the way we have vB setup, or your style. This problem only happens when we use the Blaze style.

See the bottom area here: http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/723/forumstyleissuews9.jpg

We're running the latest version of vB.

I just updated the .XML file with a fix for your issue - Upload the new one and you should be all set (I accidentally started the second part of that table within an IF statement, so when you disabled that portion, it didn't create the tables properly.)

Works great!!

Does the Your Index link at the bottom need to stay a link? The OP says "you retain the small promotional message in the footer" which to me means the text needs to stay. The message still displays even without it being a link.

Also, I moved it down to the bottom where the other notices are at. I think it looks a little bit better when the link displays in that specific section.

Thanks again! Once our site is up I plan on sending you a PM, I don't think you have any idea how well this style fits with our overall website.

beautiful style! Installed!

Quick question though. If I wanted to change the color scheme, how would I go about that? Probably a horribly noob question, but I'm racking my brain trying to figure that out, haha.

Also, I'm curious if you could assist with the editing of the navbar. I'd like to add a "home" button to it since I use vbAdvanced CMPS. I was looking in the navbar template, but couldn't see what exactly I needed to do. Any thoughts?

I was asking me about the same question because this site looks like a parked page with a lot of "usual" spam links. I'd find it a better solution if I can link to a site where you present your work.

Tell us what you think about that.

Hello,

Love the design, but I have two problems I can't seem to fix:

1.) Where and how exactly do I modify the header/footer templates so that the login box and forum stats stays up throughout the forum?

2.) How would I put banner ads below the "Users currently browsing" box?

So far, I've succeeded in inserting them in all the wrong places....any help would be appreciated.

I was going to ask a question like the one he asked.

I am wanting to make the sidebar go through out my Teen Forums (http://www.4teensonly.com) is there a simple way of doing so?

I really think it looks better being on all the pages, so if you could help me, I would thank you bunches ;)

I noticed that on IE7 Final the footer moved to the middle of the site on pages which don't require a scrollbar:

Yeah - My xHTML and CSS is perfect acording to the W3C validators, so I would guess that Microsoft has rewritten their own version of the HTML standards yet again. I'm only using Linux at the moment, so I can't get onto an IE7 installation to try and fix it until I get back home in December.

Has anyone had issues with 403 errors when they have installed this style? We have it installed and members are now stating that they are getting random 403 errors when they try to access areas in the forum. I've had the same issue, so I know it's happening. You'll click on say "New Posts" and it will give you a 403 error.. refresh the screen a couple times, and it goes away.

Andrew
11-03-2006, 01:16 PM
Adding a style wouldn't cause 403 errors - I would assume it's more along the lines of a problem with your server.

Ophelia
11-03-2006, 02:47 PM
It's only happening with this style though. If I turn it back to the one we had before this, we have no issues at all... turn it back to this style, start getting the 403 errors again.

Andrew
11-03-2006, 05:51 PM
Anybody else having an issue like this ? I spent a while on my dev forums from a variety of machines that I have access to, and I couldn't get any kind of error. It could also be some sort of disagreement between the style and a mod/hack that you have installed, but again, I don't really have much insight on resolving something like that.

I've tried to insert the code in the style manager, but keep putting it in the wrong place...

.... little help?

Andrew

Moving the sidebar into the header and footer would be quite an intensive process really, which I can't easily explain here in a post. You'd basically have to move the table that contains all that info from the FORUMHOME template into the header and footer templates. I'm also not sure if the statistics portion will work on any page besides the forum homepage, so even if you move it, that section might only work on certain pages unless you're able to right a plugin that can pull the information you need on every page. If I wasn't swamped with school and work right now, I'd be more than happy to help, but I doubt I will have any free time until the term ends in December.

As for the ads in that column, you'd just have to copy and paste one of the tables that's in the FORUMHOME template below itself and just change the title of it and the HTML content.

The .XML file has been updated to vBulletin 3.6.3, but there weren't any changes in the templates.

When installing it states:

This file was created using a different version of vBulletin from the one you are running.

Your version: 3.6.2
File version: 3.6.3

Andrew
11-09-2006, 02:25 PM
Yeah - You're running a vBulletin 3.6.2 installation, which is why you're getting the error. You either need to upgrade to vBulletin 3.6.3 or check the little box that says something about ignoring the file version (There weren't any changes between 3.6.2 and 3.6.3, so it will work just fine.)

Hi Andrew,

I installed Firefox 2 and checked my board and your demo again - got the same thing here also. So it can't be only IE7 related. (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0)

Well in IE6, I have to scroll down to actually see the footer bar, even if the content is really short.

Which is odd, because it should render as it does in FF & IE7 -- at the bottom of the content rather than the bottom of the page.

how can i fix it ?

The solution for this is very simple for IE.
In the postbit_legacy is writen for this colume "width=175px".
And a small calculation, the buttons are bigger then that together. And IE is a little bit dumber then Mozilla. He can't make a new line. That is the problem.

Change this line in postbit_legacy

Before:

</tr>
<tr valign="top">
<td class="alt2" align="left" width="175px" style="border: $stylevar[cellspacing]px solid $stylevar[tborder_bgcolor]; border-top: 0px; border-bottom: 0px">

After:

</tr>

My guess is you uploaded the images to the wrong place - All you needed to do was upload the images folder in the archive over top of the images folder that was already there. It'll add the correct directory structure for it to work then.

I uploaded all the files in the images file directly into the immage file on my board/root.

for a second try I uploaded the blaze folder into the image section. So now under images I have a folder called blaze.

I was thinking I brought the contents to far up the ladder and should've left the blaze folder. Maybe one of them didnt upload I'll go mess around.

messed around with it. couldnt fix it. re- uploaded everything again but nothing changed. I get the feeling I uploaded everything one level to far altering my original vb to look part blaze, part vb orig, and not all files were allowed to be transfered for names or whatever reason..

Think I'll just switch styles see If i can get a different one integrated correctly.
Maybe I can just return to the orig.

once I figure this all out, I'll upload it again as I like it.

When i add a new hack in the navbar the new link in the navbar is grey

how to change this?You need to change the class to vbmenu_control_alt to get the navbar class with the transparent background. An easier way would just be to copy and paste one of the existing links and change it to what you need for the hack.

This needs to ahve the mod, Visitors today. in Blaze, find the visitors today file by searching for $whotoday and replacing all contents of that file with nothing. Don't delete it, just empty it :D

P.S It may look better if you remove 'Most users ever online was ' from that most users online phrase, but it may not look as good on other themes, so trial and error is the way to go!

I hope you like my minor mod for this skin, i suck at PHP!

This skin rocks.

EDIT: Oh and i did try to add members who posted today aswell, but it made it look realy bad as it repeated alot of names, it also looked fake.

Time to upgrade my friend!

Andrew

I only support the current version of vBulletin with my styles, so I don't save the previous versions of the .XML file unfortunately. If somebody doesn't have them, then you might have to upgrade or try and import the newer version of the style and check for error (A lot of times it will still work - You just might have to do a couple of quick template edits to get it to 100% functionality.)

Last night I began making the change after 4 years of phpBB to vBulletin. I was VERY excited to see this theme, as it is almost identical to the color scheme on our main index webpage: www.texasbbqrub.com

However. I'm having a problem with the forum right now. it seems like it is not displaying the footer or header backgrounds. Unless template.html goes somewhere, but in one of the posts in this 11 page thread I read that it's jsut for personal use.

Here is the vBulletin site I am working on http://www.texasbbqrub.com/forum/

Anyone have any pointers? I'm pretty new to vBulletin and I wanted to get the theme set up before I do anything else so I can see how it looks. Thanks in advance.

Andrew
01-11-2007, 11:08 PM
Somewhere in your vBulletin options you have a trailing forward slash after your forum URL. If you look at the source code it's looking for http://forum.texasbbqrub.com//images/blaze/header_background.gif, which has two forward slashes at the end of the URL.

TexasBlake
01-11-2007, 11:19 PM
Perhaps the subdomain is part of the problem too. Either the subdomain isn't set up correctly or it is still taking time in DNS because http://forum.texasbbqrub.com goes straight to my index and not to the forum. Thank you. I will try to remove the trailing slash and see if that fixes it.

TexasBlake

Got it to work Thanks! I didn't think to check the page source because I didn't know if the header and footer would be reflected. Beautiful!

First I'd like to say its a great theme, and looks very professional.

I am having a problem with my site showing the footer_background.gif on the index ONLY. It shows in the UserCP as well as forums and threads, but not on the index. The Header background shows however. I don't have any modifications or anything else installed besides this style.

I'm not good at all with coding, sorry.

Where you put that forum sponsors section into your homepage you closed the table containing it twice. That involuntarily closed the main table, which is why that background isn't showing up I think.

The easiest way would be to revert the FORUMHOME template and then reapply the category spacing template mod to it from this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=123530&highlight=category+spacing).

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. But I'm trying to get the log in stuff on the top.

I go to my styles and templates. Go to FORUMHOME and push the revert button. Then I go to that Category Spacing mod and do what that says.

My log in box completely disappears. I've done this 4-5 times now to see if maybe I'm missing something in the directions. But I'm just trying to follow what your quote says.

Here is what FORUMHOME looks like:

It's not so much that it's not an easy change, it's just a time consuming change when it comes to reworking the templates. If you're interested in paying to have it done, send me a PM, and we can work out the details. I just have too much going on right now to take the time and do it for free.

allowing [IMG] is fine with me, i dont mind signature pictures...I however do not want to allow the option to upload them to my server...How do i shut this off? Is this a part of your template or is it a VB thing that should be asked on their main forum?

Also....Seems like im having a problem with the sections...I created to main sections with a few sub forums...I then went to create a 3rd section with some more sub forums and it seems as if a table doesnt want to forum around it like the rest...I can add sub forums to the other 2 sections with no problems but when i try to start a new section i get nothin but problems..

heres a screen shot of what im talking about...anyway to fix this or do i need to stick to 2 sections only?

One problem that I have though, I can't get "Last Post" column to have same width on IE. It works fine on FireFox and Safari, but for some reason, the width goes really wide on IE. Does anyone know the solution for this?

This Style is missing something that the AddonChat is asking for editing and adding. So basicly its impossible to integrate the chat. Yup put this code in your "FORUMHOME" template after one of the </table> boxes, the code:

<table style="border: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 0);" align="center" border="0" cellpadding="8" cellspacing="0" width="100%">

Hey guys. I installed this great template and I want to put my own logo on the top. Now behind where it says "Insert Logo Here" I noticed that it's not black. Does anyone know the color code for this so I can make a logo that blends in to the background?

Thank you. And do you know how big the top banner can be as far as width is concerned?

Well it really depends on how you want it, change the width/height of the image as well as where it is located on the sever. Find this in the "header" template in the common templates.

You decide with and height.

Can you please be more specific? What do I have to change to allow a bigger logo? Sorry, I am new to this.

In your "header" template under common templates you'll see this <!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="fullheight">
<tr>
<td height="86" style="background: url($vboptions/images/blaze/header_background.gif)"><a href="http://site.com"><img title="Logo" [B]src="images/blaze/logo.jpg" alt="Logo" border="0" height="86" width="576"></a></td>

See the bold width and height, you can change that to what your logo's width and height is as well as where the logo is situated aswell in the bold

height="86" width="576

If ya need help I could change it for you or just give me the code, it depends on what you want your logo to be size wize:)

Where do you upload this to and what folder? I've had problems with this skin before. I uploaded last time and it installed properly. Now I have uploaded it again with a fresh install and I have issues with my navbar and banner that come default with this skin: They are not appearing.

You upload the folder "blaze" to your images folder, what vb are you running?

Ok, I installed this style and I love it! However, I have three important questions:

1) How can I add the whole PM box that's on the left side of the screen to show up on the top right (inside the same box with the root folders like the pm box is on default style)? The PM box showing up on the left is fine as-is for the forum home page but once you leave the homepage to view threads/posts I would like the PM box to appear inside the root folder box on the top right like the default style, that way, users don't have to go all the way back to the forum homepage everytime to check for new PM's.

2) I noticed that there have been plus signs (+) after each username that's logged in (stats box at the bottom). Is there a way to stop it?

3) How do you add banner(s) to the VERY TOP RIGHT like you have in your demo?

THANKS IN ADVANCE! :up:

I know this is a long shot, but none of the background images in this style are showing when I install on vb 3.6.4 Anything I can check or do to make them work? The link to the image seems valid (I went to page source and pasted the link to header_background.gif in a new browser window and it showed up no problem).

If you want help, I'll help you PM me.

It's the same like I got after the first day on my board. I'm running 3.6.5
Can you please post the solution for the problem with the missing background of the navbar if you were able to fix it?

It will work, make sure you have "Ignore Style Version" as Yes when uploading the .xml file

How can I change the main font colour? I want to change it to black, I've attached a screenshot of what I mean.

Thanks,

Have the first or second alternating colors set as "#000000" for the font colors found in "Main CSS"

Hi!

Love the style, and tried to follow your instructions on how to implement an Adsense beside the logo. The problem is that it's too close to the logo, i would want it to aligned to the right.

This is my header code:
<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="fullheight">
<tr>
<td height="105" style="background: url($vboptions[bburl]/images/blaze/header_background.gif)"><a href="http://www.freakshow.no"><img src="http://www.freakshow.no/forum/images/blaze/logo.gif" alt="Logo" border="0" width="400" height="105" /></a>

<!-- Advertisement Code Here -->
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-9563329202702130";
google_ad_width = 468;
google_ad_height = 60;
google_ad_format = "468x60_as";
google_ad_type = "text_image";
google_ad_channel = "";
google_color_border = "CCCCCC";
google_color_bg = "434343";
google_color_link = "666666";
google_color_text = "333333";
google_color_url = "666666";
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
<!-- End Advertisement Code Here -->

</td>
</tr>

To make logo clickable edit this in your header tempate in "Common Templates"

<a href="http://yoursite.com"><img title="Logo" src="images/blaze/logo.jpg" alt="Logo" border="0" height="86" width="576"></a>

Make sure to change the width/height.

Anyone know exactly where that code goes? The header template for this style is much different from the default header template.

Hey Red, my question was about where IN the header template? (amongst the lines and lines of code)

I know that the style isn't supported anymore but I am hoping someone who has made this mod on this style already can help me out. P.S. thanks for grey blue skin from AF it served me well for over a year :)

NP Raize. To answer your question, you can open up your "Common Templates" and expand your header window. Look for your logo text: <img title="Logo" src="images/blaze/logo.jpg" alt="Logo" border="0" height="86" width="576">

and all you gotta do is add this (<a href="http://yoursite.com">) before, and </a> after.

I have installed this skin, and like it very much.

I am having one problem that I hope someone can help with. The "New Post in Forum" icon on the main page does not change to "No New Posts in Forum" icon the first time a user reads the new post...it only changes after the user goes back in a second time.

Can anyone help determine how to fix this?

Thank you

The style only had about 3-4 templates to revert on the 3.6.7 PL1
Even though I don't see how the navbar template needed reverting
