Hi, im currently on godaddy.com and everything seems fine at the moment, but im wondering how much i should anticipate to pay for 4-5gb of bandwith a month?

Which seems to be best and cheapest when it comes to this, my board only has 70= members at present but im anticipating with time it will grow, it seems fine running on 2gb a month at the minute but im not sure if im getting the best deal at present.....sorry if this is posted in wrong section btw:confused:

Hi 5IVEO. :)

I just went through the biggest nightmare with our old hosting, and I went looking for a new one.

I went over to WebHostingTalk.com (http://www.webhostingtalk.com) and read what people in the hosting industry had too say about the fellow web hosting peers.

I found a company that almost every hosting company over there had gushing reviews about KnowHost.com

Here see for yourself. :)

We signed up for a semi-managed VPS (Virtual Private Server) XL package and I could not be happier with them. :)

Here are their VPS packages.

For people that aren't familar with VPS accounts, it's pretty much the way it sounds as they partition off a section of the server for you and you alone. No more sharing your resources with illegal music & files as well as all the other script kiddie nonsense that goes on with most shared hosting.

With VPS you get root access to the server and usually a nice array of control panels that you can pick and choose from.

You can read a better explanation about VPS here.

http://www.knownhost.com/services/what-is-vps.html

But I love VPS as you get most of the benefits of a dedicated server without the dedicated price or headache.

the concept of VPS has been around for awhile but it's only been recently that the technology has been able to make it a true choice.

I know a lot of people discovering VPS are getting a medium (medium on a VPS is about 20 Gigs of disk space, with 250 Gigs of bandwidth) package, putting their site on it, repartioning the extra space and reselling it and basically paying for their site and extra money. I haven't done that myself, but who knows maybe in the future. :)

i would run from them. They are selling a shared hosting account that is the same size as a decent server...for 8 bucks a month...that means they are overselling HUGE...some prices are just TOO good...be careful

Their shared hosting starts at $5.00 a month, but VPS is the way to go,

this one looks tempting, im gonna see how it goes with godaddy and work out my monthly bandwith etc, moving onto a new server won't be much fun so im gonna make sure i pick the right one, i just want a host and service plan where im not forever lookin at what ive used and bumpin it up to keep up with the bandwith

I would not recommend a host that offers the world for $6 per month. Read http://www.ultracheaphosts.com/

If you need 5gb of bandwidth, look for a host that offers that not 500gb. With a budget between $4 to $10, you should have no trouble finding a host that meets your requirements.
