View Full Version : Forum Home Enhancements - Partner Box for Forumhome

I installed several styles to my board and manually had to include a Partner Box to each of them at the end of my FORUMHOME.
Because I am a little bit lazy I thought it is a good idea to write a small product adding the Partner Box for me where I want it, creating templates and phrases.
I have NEVER written a product for vBulletin on my own and I have no idea about php and all this stuff, but I installed many products and spent a few minutes to take a look how other authors solved such things.
Well, I was successful, the product is working fine for me.
Installation:
1. Install product-forumhome_partners.xml
2. Edit forumhome_partner_sites to fit your needs
Hint:
You can place the Box everywhere you want on forumhome by changing a small thing in the product-forumhome_partners.xml file.
Open it with an editor before importing it and search for:
$search_text = '<!-- / icons and login code -->';
Replace <!-- / icons and login code --> with something unique of your FORUMHOME Template, $footer for example.
I am starting to love the new product system making such things so easy :D
If you like it don't forget to click on INSTALL!

Thanks a lot for this nice addon.
I've made a few changes to it though, in order to make it easier to "nicely" show the affiliates in multiple columns, it's only a template edit so I'll post it here:
<style type="text/css">
.affiliates {
padding: 0;
margin: 0;
}
.affiliates li {
display:inline;
width:15em;
float:left;
padding-left:0.5em;
padding-right:0.5em;
}
.clear {
clear:both;
}</style>
<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" class="tborder" width="100%">
<tr>
<td class="tcat"><a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('forumhome_affiliates')"><img id="collapseimg_forumhome_affiliates" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_thead$vbcollapse[collapseimg_forumhome_affiliates].gif" alt="" border="0" /></a><b><center>$vbphrase[partner_sites]</center></b></td>
</tr>
<tbody id="collapseobj_forumhome_affiliates" style="$vbcollapse[collapseobj_forumhome_affiliates]">
<tr>
<td class="thead"><span class="smallfont"><b><center>Category 1</center></b></span></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1">
<ul class="affiliates">
<li>
<a href="http://leftblank.nl/" target="_blank" title="Demo Link">Demo Link</a>
</li>
<li>
<a href="http://leftblank.nl/" target="_blank" title="Demo Link">Demo Link</a>
</li>
<li>
<a href="http://leftblank.nl/" target="_blank" title="Demo Link">Demo Link</a>
</li>
</ul>
<b class="clear" />
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="thead"><span class="smallfont"><b><center>Category 2</center></b></span></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1">
<ul class="affiliates">
<li>
<a href="http://leftblank.nl/" target="_blank" title="Demo Link">Demo Link</a>
</li>
<li>
<a href="http://leftblank.nl/" target="_blank" title="Demo Link">Demo Link</a>
</li>
<li>
<a href="http://leftblank.nl/" target="_blank" title="Demo Link">Demo Link</a>
</li>
</ul>
<b class="clear" />
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
<br />
You should ofcourse change the demo links to your own, but I guess this should be pretty straightforward.
Edit: Heres (another) example showing the box with multiple links:

Edit2: removed the style-specific CSS.

* utw-Mephisto clicks install ...
I won't use it for partner, but I was looking for the code for a simple box which this hack provides :) Thanks for that ..
One additional thing though : You use hex code as BG color - shouldn't you rather use classes to make sure it looks nice on every style ?

this is good.. however at this moment or at least at this version.. im not going to install it because i think that its inconvenient having to edit the file to add/change settings.. maybe in a future release adding settings from acp?
Good work on first hack though :)

Sorry if I misunderstand, but you could just edit the master template?

Is it possible to get this box on all sides so it is in footer?
