Hi,
we run 3 mambo installations and vBulletin forum on portal. Everything cool, only issue is that mambo and vBulletin are not cooperating with users table. There is some mambo-vBulletin bridge, however its toooo much complicated, that we would take that risk and merge users.
So, how did you solve this problem?
Which CMS software do you use with your vBulletin?

I'm using/developing vbDrupal (http://www.vbdrupal.org). It's a fork of Drupal (http://www.drupal.org).

vbadvanced seems to simple for us, as we bring new contents (articles) every day. We have also katalog with more then 7.000 products and very dynamic pages, so I think vbadvanced couldnt handle it.
Worpress is just a blog software (which we are also looking to integrate), but its not fully cms whatsover.

None on my main site, and vBAdvanced on my secondary site.
I've got plans for my main one, but it is probably going to be slow going to get there.

vBadvanced is a fantastic product but it does lack support and clearly written manuals. Though, while a portal (and can be used for additional site sections), vBadvanced is not a CMS.

it's working great actually :)
u can see it here http://vbulletinsetup.com

but the SERP's have been picking up my keywords great :)

vBadvanced is not CMS, as somebody above said. Maybe is simple solution to somebody whos priority is forum-based page.
But we for example run portal, with multiple new contents every day, many articles, menus and complex structure. We run mambo, but we can't (yet) merge users.
El_Muerte, I checked your vbdrupal page. Honestly, how drupal and vB are doing together? Well? Is drupal using vb user table and login session?

It's single sign on. Sessions and user data are completely shared.

I was thinking of drupal for portal ... but I think it just never like the look. not slick and clean (imo). If I find a skin I like for drupal or figure out how to make one, I'd use it as a front end or an add-on for blogs etc. no problem.
very versatile... just again, really wish drupal had better available skins. Joomla looks better, imo, but poor/difficult integration with vbull.
I'm hopin that wordpress hack stony has been promising comes out for members blogs. but wordpress as a cms is peakin my interest as well.
so choices........
--vbdrupal (addon or as front end portal)
--joomla
--wordpress (addon or as front end portal)
--vbadvanced (front end portal/cms. and its a cms for all layman intents and purposes. and I'm a layman :p)
anything else?

lol omg, elmuerte.. I just noticed.. you're a unrealamdin admin? (don't know why I didn't make the connection before. doh!) I'm old school UTSA guy (since 99). I know justme, leebee, baiter etc (VDS, TSU, VAL, TA, SDA, etc. ) ... :D used to have the most popular server and site in UTSA till it went down when our admin went MIA (we're back now and growing again. :)). I gotta say, always thought navigation there was the most confusing of any forum I've ever seen (imo). That said, its best admin resource handdown. nice work bro :)

That's mostly because of the (crappy) vbPortal software.

Please use http://www.vbdrupal.org for vbdrupal support (and not this thread). Also, vbdrupal is a port of drupal, you need to use the vbdrupal files and not a standard drupal installation.

We (unrealadmin.org) were using phpNuke before we switched to vBulletin+vbPortal. phpNuke was a gigantic piece of crap and vbPortal wasn't much better. In fact, I'm not really surprised that their main site was compromised.

I already checked for subdreamer, but it has lack of plugins. And we need a tons of them, as portal is growing at light speed with new contents every day and with multiple addons, so I don't believe this program could manage it well.
Bump - has anybody sucesfully merged the typo3 and vB forum?

just because many people cant define what an CMS is.
vBAdvanced, is not an CMS. He owns no standalone web-applications (modules) as articles, reviews, clasifieds, shop, content, newsletter and so on.
For exemple, vBPortal is more near to CMS definitions and Typo, Mambo, Joomla are CMS for real.
so, vBAdvanced is easy to integrate with vbulletin, vBPortal is also very easy you need just a few steps to integrate the styles.
Mambo and Joomla has "bridges" and "connectors" which are not 100% compatible with the vbulletin user table. There are many issues about.

A true CMS for VB would be great!

sometimes you just have to fork out money and have a custom CMS built like I did for my site = 100 % vbulletin ran!

vbdrupal here. support is slow, but effective.
took me a long time, which suffered hitloss, to get 100% working.
but, once it's up & running properly - it is a decent setup, and there is a supplied skin for vbdrupal which integrates the entire site & forum together - give it a more 'planned out' appeal, than say a CMS with one skin while VB works with another.

We use Joomla and WordPress. Both are integrated with vBulletin so a user only has to log on once and can access resources in all three sections.
For the Joomla integration with vBulletin we use jvbplugin by bbpixel (http://www.bbpixel.com/) and for the WordPress - Joomla integration we use OpenWP (http://projects.j-prosolution.com/en/projects/os-projects/project-openwp.html).
If anyone would like to see what this looks like, our website is Voxilla.com (http://voxilla.com/).
We also have all this working with vBSEO on the vBulletin side and OpenSEF on the Joomla side.

I've just finished and installed a custom portal on my main site, but it isn't really a CMS in any sense of the word as it literally just takes content from the forums and displays it on a portal page. I'm still using vBAdvanced on my secondary site though.

None, but I wouldn't want one that makes the site homepage look like a portal, that looks so boring and unoriginal.
I'm thinking about a custom made CMS for the site because most of the CMS software ou there isn't what i'm looking for in a CMS.

I love the way iJoomla looks, and some of the Drupal sites I've seen have been simply amazing. But both platforms were too complicated for me, and developers I spoke with wanted to charge a fortune.
For now, I have Subdreamer integrated with vB on one site (www.DDRFitClub.com ). It works fine for that site since there won't be much content updating.
For my other sites, however, I need more content 'management' features, so I'm looking into having a bridge created between Expression Engine and vB. that would be the ideal for me.

i used vbadvanced. i like it and its user friendly.. and it seems that many hacks support it or somone builds a module to work w/ it if needed.
when you say cmps isnt a true portal.. what do you consider real portal or whats it missing? just curious if im missing the boat on somthing.

We do vB to typo3 integration

typo3 is integrated well to vB
There are 5-10 live sites use TYPO3 and vBulletin
there are 4 free extensions in typo3 extension repository to make an integration

I use vbdrupal at http://www.alleria.com
I spent a lot of time playing with standalone drupal, but when vbdrupal version of drupal 4.6 went stable, I jumped at the chance.
We use a lot of standard drupal modules, integrates beautifully. I think vbdrupal is truly the power admins CMS. If you get used to templating and skinning systems easily, its a breeze, and the level of control is awesome.
