Imagine, a new admin comes to vb.org and dang!! tons & tons of hacks scattered all over the forum... s/he actually does not know which are the most popular and widely used plugins/addons/hacks... Naturally the most popular hacks would be the most useful to their forums as well... mostly i would say...
So, why not give these new admin a head start? How about a special page on vb.org, which enlists some of the most popular hacks in their order of merit?
The list can be categorized like..
Top 50 Coders (in order of most hacks installed with direct links to profiles)
Top (say 100) Plugins (in order of installations)
Top 100 Add-ons (in order of installations)
Top 100 Code-modifications (in order of installations)
and so on... ofcourse idea can be improved upon... :)

All they have to do is click to reorder the threadlist by installs or ratings.

I've been here more than a year and I never knew that. Odds are neither would they.

Click on the little link named "installs" at the top of the threadlist.

Great point. From a U/I perspective, vb.org leaves a lot to be desired. Once you get use to navigating the system, it's not difficult to find popular plugins but it is difficult to see popular new plugins, popular coders or anything similar. By putting together some of the suggestions outlined in this post it would likely increase the number of hack installs and reduce the number of requests for hacks that already exist.

Good ideas.
It might be nice to have Quick stat pages.

I'd just like them to figure out what they are going to do with the mods page.. I like to click mods, and go to 3.6 section,, but after i find a mod and read about it,, if i try and back out by clicking the forum hierarchy links, you end up in the regular forum setup :(
i wish you guys would clean that up, I've grown to ignore it, but it looks unprofessional to me..

I like the idea of a top xx plugins page :) Very nice :)
And I just had a thought which could be useful and coule be useless. Like on eBay when you click a listing it logs it, maybe when you view a modifcation, it will says "Recently Viewed Modifications" on the main modifcations page. Shouldn't be too difficult to archive :p
