I was wondering if there should be a forum, where users can pay (using paypal, or another method) for a mod. Users can post their `high tech` mods, and actually receive some [word for receiving money for their work]. I think it would really help some people out, because i know people who have made lots of mods and have been forced to spend 85$ more just to have a forum to sell their mod. Personally, i think this could potentially save money then cost money.

No, i mean where users post their mods, and you can buy it. Like the current moding forums, except you need to pay to download the mods, and all profet goes to the designer. So, its like that, except you dont request, coders post their mods :) so they maby other members would like it.

Interesting idea, but I doubt this will be done because vbulletin most likely wants to be a forum for members to share their hacks, if this was included im sure a lot more people would try and sell their hacks instead of releasing them for free. If something is good, people should be encouraged to donate.

not sure, but I think something very similar to this was discussed before, I remember the discussion went on for several pages.

Well i already thouight about this, and i thought that some users would still post free mods. Because they have a reputation to build first? right? no-one will buy your mod if you dont have soem rep first.
I too rember a thread like this, but i couldent find it.

My view on this is No im afraid, i have 1 main reason, If you pay for a mod/hack/add on here, peeps would expect the seller to give 100% support, upgrades and whatever else i have missed, Not all coders do this, if the y it aint for long or another version of vb comes out and they say that they no longer support the older version of the hack etc....
Not only that peeps will more than likely in 1 way or another hold vb responseable should things go wrong and ya cant say it wont happen, i am 90% sure it would, and as fa as i know this is 1 of the reasons this idea will not happen, vb does not want to be held responsiable in any way shape or form...
Surely most have their own sites that they can sell from anyway?
I also feel that if this did happen then most hacks that would normally have been FOC would no doubt have a price tag on it...
These are just my views, i cant code at all and also i make no revenue from my forum (i pay about 85% of the bills) and cannot really afford too much more, i cannot justify anymore costs, this is a hobby for me......
On the other hand, there would have to be some guide lines if this did come about where certain hacks could not be charged for, I would not want to have to pay for a hack for e.g. (mine) that changes the post icons to horizontal on the forumhome, to small, Perhaps hacks that are of a certain size and above, such as vbplaza, arcades and so on...
Again just my thoughts, dont want to get slated please....

We do have plans for a "Commercial Directory" which, from my understanding of your suggestion, would be quite similar, so it's unlikely we will have a paid mods forum.

And then comes the Time i will say "Bye, bye" vBulletin.
:tired:
It is ok to have a commercial Boardsoftware - if i want to pay for some greater Mods i bye them on their Site. But if anyone can open a paid Modthread for a simple Plugin it goes to far.

A commercial directory is a list of sites that sell vb modifications - nothing would be for sale on vb.org itself.
I'd like to see this commercial directory in action AND offered as a plugin. (ASAP)
I run a free noncomercial site and am getting fed up with people joining just to promote their products at my expense.
My sites grown to the extent that it needs more disk space/ bandwidth and needs to move out of a shared server, and the above could be a way to make it self-supportive without degrading the non commercial appearance of the forums.
I'm sure there would be others who'd be interested in having a separate directory to redirect commercial interests plus use this as a way to help pay for operating costs.

Can you please merge this poll/thread with this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=151403)? It discusses exactly the same matter and I think this poll adds to that thread.

I don't think a paid mod forum is the way foward though a paid mod directory would do nicely.

vB.org would never do that, for starters you said "all the money" goes to the designers. What about the bandwidth that vB.org would be using to offer these downloads from here. They would be giving bandwith away for FREE, which they have to pay for. While other people make money at their expense.
Would you do that?
This topic is from 2006, AND has been asked 24 times (if you bother to do a search). With that said; within those 24 posts is a clear and consice answer to the commercial directory/paid modification anwers.
Thanks
