Following the Gold release of 3.6, here is an updated version of my FreshBlue template (http://www.vayadesign.net/blog/2006/03/29/free-vbulletin-template/).
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
Demo: Link (http://www.vaya.ws/forum/?styleid=3)
Download: See attachment.
I have not had a great deal of time to test this yet, but given that FreshBlue for 3.5 has had no reported problems for a very long time and the only changes have been the necessary 3.6 updates, everything should be working perfectly. If not, just let me know in this topic.
As before you are welcome to use this template on as many sites as you wish at no charge, but please leave the 'designed by' note and link in place. Thanks.
Enjoy! :)

Looks very nice mate. Thankyou :)
Installed thanks
I am getting 1 problem though:

(when I click drop down menus)

I'm assuming you've added your own banner at the top of the page? The reason you're having that problem is that by adding a banner or changing any content above the navigation area the point at which the dropdown should appear has changed. It's easy enough to fix, just go to the custom CSS section of the edit CSS page and find the following:
/* Fix navbar pop-up menus */
#usercptools_menu, #navbar_search_menu {
margin-top: -100px;
margin-left: -25px;
}
Just change the value of margin-top until the menu appears at the correct height. The greater the number the higher the menu will appear - just make sure you don't omit the - before the number or the menu will be pushed down rather than up.
Hope that helps.
Yes I added my own banner, ill see if this fixes the problem, thanks!
Edit: Hmm... doesn't seem to change anything ?

Very nice. Installing.
Would you mind sharing how to set it like your MacFora template? I like the header at the top.
Also, I noticed that vBAdvanced isn't taking too kindly to the style.
This style rocks. However I added my own Logo instead of the Forum-Title. Thanx for giving the style away for free :-)

08-10-2006, 09:37 AM
I'm afraid the MacFora style is something I'm working on currently for a client, so is not available for anyone else to use. Of course if you wanted me to do something similar for you then that would be no problem.
I'm actually going to be looking into vB Advanced compatibility shortly for a modified version of the template. If I can get it working without huge amounts of hassle then I might try and implement whatever changes are necessary in the standard version, but I can't promise anything atm.

Okay thanks. I was looking to add the upper portion of the MacFora theme -- the computer monitor, links, etc.
Dom.S
08-10-2006, 11:58 AM
Well when I say 'similar' I don't mean that similar. The header is a custom design solely for MacFora.com, but if you would like a quote for a header design that would suit your forum then just send me a PM with your forum URL and any additional info and I'll get back to you ASAP. :)

I have managed to get FreshBlue working with vB Advanced with the exception of the forum title. Where you would normally see the forum's name in bold to the right of the http://www.vaya.ws/forum/images/misc/navbits_start.gif image it is completely blank. See http://vaya.ws/forum/cmps_index.php?styleid=3
If anyone has experienced this problem before and knows of a fix, please let me know. Once I've got that sorted I will release an XML file which you can merge into the FreshBlue template, containing the necessary vBA modifications.
Ignore the following, it turns out the vBA problems are easily fixed without template changes. See this post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1049735&postcount=17) for details.
Edit: Looks like the missing title is down to my vBA installation rather than the style (the bug seems to occur even with the default style), so I've attached the vBA XML file to this post (51918). To install it, just go to Download/Upload Styles, select the XML file, select FreshBlue for the Merge Into Style option and then click import. Job's a good 'un.

I don't need the actual design -- I was just wondering if you could provide the HTML used to get said design.
Thanks for the vBA update.
Edit: Umm, vBA still looks messed up. It's not as messed up as it was before the update, but it's still doesn't look as it should.

Sorry about the vBA update. My fault for releasing something on a whim, without doing any testing (it works perfectly in firefox). I'll see what I can do with that.
Re the HTML and so on, I really can't offer any aspect of the MacFora work. Simply because the markup/images/CSS has all been completed for a single client who wanted a custom look for their forum and I cannot then go releasing aspects of the project to 3rd parties. I hope you can understand and appreciate that I'm only standing by the agreement that I would have with anyone who I complete custom work for.

That's fine, I ended up just sticking our logo beneath the navbar, looks perfect.
vBA is pretty darn close in Firefox -- the left columns are still being squished by the central columns, though.

vBAdvanced problem solved at last. :D It turns out the software doesn't like the spacer_open and spacer_close and was missing them out, which resulted in a bit of a mess to say the least. To solve this, go to your vB Advanced settings page and add spacer_open and spacer_close as 'Portal Output Global Variables'. Live demo here (http://vaya.ws/forum/cmps_index.php?styleid=5) and browser test results here (http://www.browsercam.com/public.aspx?proj_id=275906). :)
Please ignore the template change I posted, it's no longer necessary. If you have applied it simply go to the FreshBlue templates and revert the template named 'adv_portal' from the group named 'templates'.

Yay! Looks perfect, thanks Dom.
Edit: Hey what's BrowserCam? Does it allow you to test a site based on multiple browsers -- without actually having to have said browser!?
Edit... again: Aww, you have to pay for it. Well, so much for that.

How do i add my own banner?
Dom.S
09-08-2006, 07:47 AM
Open the 'header' template and find the line '$vboptions[bbtitle]'. You can then replace that with an image tag or text of your choosing.
It's fairly likely your banner will be taller/shorter than the default title area so you will also need to adjust margin-top in the following area of the custom CSS. This ensures that the pop-up menus (Quick Links etc) remain positioned correctly.
/* Fix navbar pop-up menus */
#usercptools_menu, #navbar_search_menu {
margin-top: -100px;
margin-left: -25px;
}
Have a higher number (e.g. -50px) to have the pop-ups placed lower in the page and a lower number (e.g. -150px) to have them placed higher on the page.

Thanks for the details Terry. The fix is very simple:
Open the template 'register_verify_age' and find:

$header
Replace with:
<body>
$header
$spacer_open
<div class="normalmargins">

There still appears to be problem with vBAdvanced 2.2.0 & VB 3.6.0.
Either the header doesn't fill out the page, or it's the sideblocks pushing out the left/right columns. 1st pic shows VB default style, 2nd pic shows FreshBlue style, see how the left/right columns are pushing out the borders.

This is a pretty cool skin, but I do have a problem how do I place my logo to the left of my site title, I want them to line up. Here is my site Computer Tech Support USA (http://www.computer-tech-support-usa.com/forums) as you can see they are not lined up. I am not a coder (yet) and I am a little lost. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

You may wish to fix a small problem- your images for forum status (maybe post too) are using vaya.ws as a source!
Also, is there a way to add in a logo to the top (I've removed the text at the top, and want to replace topleft.gif with a larger version with a logo in).

Free templates and free hosting, aren't I generous. ;) (Fixed, thanks for the heads up)

Go to the edit CSS page and adjust the margin value for 'CSS Selector: body'. That will push everything in/out/all about. Be warned though, you will have to also adjust the dropdown menu CSS as it will also be affected. Details on that here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1048516&postcount=4).
Also, is there a way to add in a logo to the top (I've removed the text at the top, and want to replace topleft.gif with a larger version with a logo in).
Find:
<h1 id="sitetitle"><a href="index.php">vB 3.6 Template Demo Forum</a></h1>
... in the header template and replace it with the image that you would like to appear in its place. Do not modify topleft.gif, as that is guaranteed to result in big headaches all around. As with the change mentioned above, you may need to alter the dropdown menu CSS if the height of your logo is greater/less than the height of the standard text.
Phew. :)

Hmmm, still didn't work, I'll have to reload and see where I'm screwing up, I appreciate your work in this template and your browser compatibility testing !
One thing I noticed is that the Button Images Folder is set to:
http://www.vaya.ws/forum/images/freshbluetemplate/statusicon
and the Item Status Icon Folder is set to:
http://www.vaya.ws/forum/images/freshbluetemplate/statusicon
Obviously, you want those to be links local to your site.

Dom.S - Great style! I have it as the main style on my site here: www.swimclub.co.uk
Can I ask you two quick questions (as someone who's pretty poor with html/php ......)
1. How/where can I remove the "SwimClub.co.uk Forums" link that appears at the very top of the page?
2. Is it possible to put my vbulletin3_logo_white.gif logo above the https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/10/1.gif SwimClub.co.uk Forums that appears at the top of the forum?
Thanks,
Chris
Dom.S

Glad you like it Chris.
It would require quite a bit of tweaking to do exactly what you're asking, but replacing the 'SwimClub.co.uk Forums' with an image link would be fairly simple. Just find the following in the header template:
<h1 id="sitetitle"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vboptions</a></h1>
And replace with:
<h1 id="sitetitle"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]">[b]<img src="yourtitleimage.jpg" /></a></h1>
I think that the best height for the replacement banner would be 34px, as that is the height of the text. If your replacement banner is taller/shorter than that then you will need to edit the menu CSS (see the first page of this thread for info).
Cheers,
Dom
VERY nice skin !!
only one question:
the default forum width is 100%, but I want to use a fixed with, eg 800pix.
Is there a way to change it fast ? or do I have to change a lot of templates ?
Dom.S

I'm afraid it's a bit trickier than just editing the main width setting as there are other other settings in the CSS. If you're familar with HTML and CSS it would not be particularly hard to achieve though; just a little trial and error.

For anyone who wants to add another drop down nav menu, you'll need to add the nav menu id to the css.
/* Fix navbar pop-up menus */
#usercptools_menu, #navbar_search_menu, #navbarid_menu{
margin-top: -210px;
margin-left: -25px;
}
Replace navbarid with the id you selected here
<td id="menuid" class="vbmenu_control"><a href="$show[nojs_link]#menuid">label</a> <script type="text/javascript"> vbmenu_register("menuid"); </script></td>
Hope this might help somebody.
Also, I'm using this on 3.6.5 with no problems.\
:edit:
Just upgraded to 3.6.8 and everything with this style is still working.
