Geez, that's a tough question.

If I was in your position, I'd copy my existing site to a local test system if you don't already have one. One that can be completely sandboxed from the Internet and run on its own. Then I'd try reinstalling it and attach it to the new style and see what happens. It might get rid of data, but it should fix the style issue. If that's the case, you'll be able to cut and paste the template changes to your live site and it should work fine.

Someone feel free to chime in if you see anything wrong with this methodology...it's late...

I have the same problem...no new event button. The button will show if the <if></if> is removed. But then it will show in all of the forums. Is there a different if statement that could be used to choose the forum that it will show up in?

This mod works perfect in 3.8.X. Farcaster's product does not and had to take it out as the bridge between the two is released in 4.X.

I was going to post in the other forum, but I got a no permission error.

So here is what concerns me. I have upgraded to 4.12, and when I activate the this plug in, I get this error above the page:

Is this on a test system where you can confirm that the event thread is mapped to the event id in the database? That's where I suspect the issue is.

3 = "Recurring Event"There is code for this in the calendar template that should be able to be hardcoded into that forum based on an 'if this forum is event forum' logic similar to how the add event button is added to the page as an option. I've been wanting to do this as well, but haven't had time.

If you want to try coding it, I'll point you in the directions where to get the code, etc and we can work on it together that way.

I know where you are coming from there! I held off for as long as possible but needed the CMS of VB4. I cant believe Vbulletin are wasting there time creating Facebook pages/Apps that take users away from your site and not concentrating on welcome additions like this!

I've looked seriously at Xenforo that has a plugin like this available. I've also looked at IPB that does this out of the box now. And then there's socialengine for a more flexible platform. But all roads point away from vb4. I've seen it and I don't like using it or the mess surrounding it.

So I love this hack and have been using it for the last year but I have one little issue that bugs me.

I have seperate areas with each area having a custom style. When you click to add an event it reverts back to the main style and back to the custom style one you hit the submit button.

I am at a loss and any input would help as this is one of my pet peeves

I having an issue where I tie in multiple forum sections and it publishes the calendar post in the wrong forum section instead of where the user input it.

I also noticed that the first post (the event details post) isn't getting indexed in the SERPs on those pages....rather whatever is posted after and that isn't helping my case for ranking the events pages......anyone know how to fix this or since it pulls from the calendar page there's no way?

I'd be willing to pay anyone to come up with a fix for that and for the calendar formats....I would love to be able to have the user choose between a 1 time event, a ranging event or a reoccuring event.

Use template variable for Event Details

When this is set to Yes you will need to use the variable

$lv_vb_eventforums_eventdetails

to display the Event Details block in the SHOWTHREAD template.

When this is set to No the Event Details block is inserted at the end of $navbits variable.

If you are running the default style, you can most likely leave this off. If you have heavily customised the SHOWTHREAD template, and/or the Event Details arn't showing properly, you will need to use this.

This is an important bit of work. I hope Farcaster or one of the other Calendar mod peeps take this onboard. In 1979 I created the first dedicated Gig Guide, TAGG The Alternative Gig Guide in Melbourne , I believe work such as this will enhance the potential for new artists to get there stuff out there. I'm not a coder unfortunately, though I'd like to see a storm of Calendar enhancements. I mean, there isn't even a Facebook share button for Calendars...I mean, really...

I set it to 7 days, then 14 days and now 30 days, but in seeing there are far too many events for the summary i tried to set it back down to 7 ... and it wont change from 30 ?!?!?!?

1 Google map of event location - awesome!!

Another addition would be to include Google Map of the event location
Since I have AME installed, I use the Google Maps definition to include maps and such. Streeth view looks pretty good in the events, though I haven't used it that way in a while.

Ok, I downloaded AME3, installed and updated the Hook and definitions as per thread but I cant get the map to come up when I place the google map code in the post - I guess I need the Definition for Google Maps which I noticed isn't in this list but is in the older version list which wont import into this version?

Also - is there a way to add Co-ordinates? Latitude and Longitude inside the Google Map definition?

I used post 825 to install this in my site with 4.2.2. It is working, sort of. I am having a few problems, maybe someone can help?

The event will post to the calendar correctly with all of the custom fields and a thread is created in the forum - but the thread only has the title and event description, non of the custom fields.

Also (and less important), instead of saying Add New Event at the top of the forum, it says Post New Thread (though clicking that does take you to add event).

Update: I reloaded the xml, nothing, I uploaded again after doing a total Maintenance whip around and voila it appeared and seems to be working fantastically. I have to tell you I am rapt as this also works really well to enhance Calendar posts if you are a serious Publisher

I have the vb3 version installed on my test site, it is really no different then the vb4 version, you just need to install it on your board and play with it.

I set up both on my test board but, use them separately.
If I used them together, a new thread woud be created without going to the calendar page.
For this demo, I will link you to the calendar to post a new event.

After you post the event, click new post.

Demo on 3.8 board.

I couldn't work this one out mate, is there a way of using this prpoerly on 4.2.3? I have trawled the threads and I am sure I am missing something, for instance the correct code for the Forumdisplay in 4.2.x.

After you create an event, on the thread page, on the upper right hand side of the event should show Edit Event and Abandon Event.

If you are referring to deleting an event from showing on the event page, then you will have to edit the database via cpanel/phpmyadmin

I'm having problems with the updated version. Our forum used to be 3.6.x but we upgraded to 4.1.10 and disabled the plugin as it stopped working.

I've just upgraded the forum to 4.2.2 and installed the updated plugin. Enabled it but we are seeing a weird DB error when trying to create a new event. We don't see this error otherwise.

There is an updated version for 4.2.2 which I have installed. But it appears there was an issue with the database when changing hosts. This has now been fixed and the issue is resolved :)
