Guests always seen hidden links, if this addon activated. You can't exclude guests and include group ids. Non-excluded Forums are depend by the made options in vbulletins-options.


You'll find different versions in the archive. "product-Hide_Links_From_Guest_v132_36x_english.xml" is the newest one.
36x in filename means, product for vBulletin 3.6.x only, not downward-compatibly
354 in filename means, product for vBulletin 3.5.4.

This Addon works fine with the "Post Replacement" addon from Larrysw.
You need only to change the "Execution Order" from 5 to 4 in "Plugin Manager" -> Guests will not see links in posts (Hook: postbit_display_complete)

I did find this mod to work great. However, it was descided by our staff that it is more a detrant for guests to get them to register.
I removed this mod from my site but think it was a good mod non the less.

Yes. In Plug-ins you need only to deactivate the "Guests Not see links in Signature" plugin.


Will bring another enhancement. User in groups 1, 3 and 4 will not see links, too. Based on a idea
from the user JonnyF (www.vbhacks-germany.com).

Sounds like a good idea :) especially if it was done so you could also choose which forums had links hidden and which had links shown. Then you have all bases covered!

My programming language are not so great. I'm a beginner, but i think about a spoiler (not visible in printable version etc.) and hide hack.

Okay, it's on my list, but the next update brings everything tunable first.

Any chance of a very simple variation without all the extras please? Just a simple one really that does not show links to guests but everyone else can see them :)

I really don't need all the other features but cutting down on plug-ins is a must for larger boards so we'd really appreciate a streamlined version of this hack if you get two minutes. Please :cool:

I've inserted Registered Users Group (number 2) in the field Hide links from groups.

now when Registered Users open their Private messages, they can not see links.

Sometimes we don't want our Registered Users to see links in one forum. ;)

But i don't know any release date. :(

It is planned for the next version (optionally you can select which links are shown).
For example (localhost|gif|jpg) will not affect localhost, .jpg and .gif in links.

You can define which urls should not be hidden:
use the option Exclude links (globally) in AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> Hide Links From Guests

For example:
localhost;vbulletin

all urls with localhost or vbulletin are not hidden for guests.

Okay forgive my ignorance here but these two options have me a bit confused. I think it's the wording. I've played around with it and I'm just not getting what I need in there. Basically I want all links hidden from all groups that aren't mods, supermods, admins or registered users. Thanks, I'm excited to use this hack. :)

Actually nevermind -- realized you can control it from the forum manager in vB.

Other question -- enabling this hack TAKES AWAY the quick reply on posts. How can I make it so that quick reply still shows up?

One question though, can it be used with phrases for multimple languages? I tried creating a phrase in 2 languages and putting the $vbphrase[name] code into the Change Text Option, but it doesn't work :(

Go back into the settings and check:


Separating each group ID with a comma, those links are shown hidden for guests.

For example:
0 for all groups
-1 for no groups


Only put in the usergroups that the links are not shown to!! So do not put in the usergroup(s) of which you are a member.

The instructions are misstated. They should say somethng like "Enter the usergroups that cannot see links." Then you enter in those groups.

No, there's no problem in 3.6.8 pl2, it works perfectly.
just make sure you set the options properly and pay special attention to :

Show links from groups - all links posted from these group id's will show.....
Show links from users - same as above but for individual users......

make them both blank and then try it out....

also make sure Hide links from groups - is 1 for guests(unregistered)

if it still doesn't work, then you have another plugin which is interfering...

Hi Leo, for that mod you have to make sure you have the latest product, and in the ACP go to options for that mod and make sure you don't have your unregistered usergroups # included in the Viewer usergroups option. If it is there, then your guests will still be able to watch them. :)

One major problem though...eventually registered users get the "Must Register to See Links" prompt which REALLY sucks!!! Rebuilding the Post Cache and Signature Cache temporarly fixes the issue but after about 24 hours everyone sees it again.

Please help! Is it possible that another plugin is interfereing? Maybe a setting that needs to be changed?
