View Full Version : Add-On Releases - PNG Fix in IE

Due to the pricing and yearly fee of vBulletin I am no longer creating mods for vBulletin, instead I have stepped out of the shadow of vBulletin to create my own stand alone mods. I wish to thank everyone who downloaded and installed my mods but as of now with not being able to afford hosting and vBulletin, I decided to drop vBulletin so hopes of me returning would only happen if my newest venture brings me a nice profit.

Thank you all again
Steve

Very awesome! All my ranks are .png and it was lookin' pretty bad on the site with all the light blue around them (if they were using IE).

The only thing I found weird was...when I first uploaded it...it changed all my ranks to a size that was about 10x10, I kept searching other threads and slowly by slowly the images came back to normal size. All is good now :)

Thanks for the hack!

No prob, I didn't realize it was doing that. I will check into it so no one else has to worry about that happening.

Yeah looks great and I get the same 10x10 thing. Hopefully its just because its new script and needs to bed in :P

for whatever reason, this is not working for me :( . Only thing I can think of is my path is wrong? the path to the file from the html directory of my server is vb/forums/clientscript ....... is this the path i should be using? Or do you have to use the full path of the webserver? any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Chad

Mythotical

RaMarcus: Yea thats all it is, just needs to embed.

oct2274: You can do either way, try using the full path and see what happens.

ok, i fixed it........seems that it pasted into the template wrong the first time........even though i didn't have the forums of the root of my server i didn't have to change the path at all.....though i had it that way at first.

whitetigergrowl, where are you uploading the pngfix.js file?

Hi Steve,
This fix does not seem to work with the BB Code Manager hack to show rounded quotes boxes using PNG graphics.

Any other suggestions would be helpful otherwise the IE users in my forum will just have to suffer.

Mythotical
09-29-2006, 04:18 AM
fotografik: Give me a link to the hack and I will install it and test out a new PNG fix to work with that.

Phosphorus, gotta be more specific, is it not working altogether, giving an error, did you upload the file to the right folder?

Same fore me here, I doesn't work with the BB Code Manager hack (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=120073) hack.

Any idea? Thanks for the support.
I'm using vb 3.6.2

There is a problem with this hack

My logo is a png file. For some reason, whenever I am in a vb add/edit page which contains a form, the logo will not display in IE.

You do a view source, the logo is there.

Removing the code in headinclude, the logo displays.

Scormen

But with IE7, I believe there is a PNG fix?

Mythotical

Lionel, what do you mean when you are in a vb add/edit page which contains a form?

Yes in IE7 there is a PNG fix but alot of people are not running IE7.

Lionel

simple, test it for yourself. Add a png logo in your header, then do a new thread or try adding a calendar event and see if you still can see the logo.png

Mythotical
11-16-2006, 09:56 PM
I can see the logo.png fine. Hmmm, odd if you ask me. I should have a new version done within the next few weeks, hopefully.

Most of my site's new design are .pngs. Realized not everyone is using IE7 yet and was going nuts trying to find a solution.

Thank God IE finally fixed this.

THANK YOU!!!

Can you tell me if this allows semi transparency of a png over an image? I have a background image for the postbit and some users have some semi transparent png images and i want these to show over the background image.

Some png fix codes dont work with semi transparency, they just turn the grey blue to grey, which is why i wonder.

Well, the website he borrowed this solution from appears to fix this for all types of transparency.

Mythotical
04-21-2007, 04:05 AM
TheMilkCarton is correct. It appears to fix all types of transparency but I have not tested it.

From what I have learned this WILL work on 3.6.x all versions.

Hi tnx for the reply :)

I'm using IE 6.0

I know my way around with stuff like this but I'm just not able to let this work correctly.

I've tried everything you explained (understand it completely). I also tried the full path and so on. I even tried to copy the code of the js file and create a standalone script (in the head) on 1 testpage and stll the background is showing.

The standalone testpage is: http://www.clanlive.nl/test/

I just had to try this becos copying the lines at the bottom of headerinclude doesn't work also :(

Then I've checked my settings in IE but to bad coz java is enabled. :(

--------------------------------------------------------

I've tried something else on the test page. And now it works fine.....BUT...as somebody else was telling on page 2 of these reactions.. When I use the same code (at the bottom of headinclude) the image won't show al all in the message of the forum.
When you'll refresh you see the image (with background) for a slitsecond so it's there but then it's gone again.

Is it allouw to cry for me ;)?

Todecay
11-13-2007, 06:24 AM
just to let you know....

It seems the image only screwes up in an message. All other images show up correctly so I'm ok with that.

Thanx for your help ;)

So my message for anybody:
In a messagebox the image WON'T appear as you wish but this is something fantastic to use for all other images like your icons and stuff!

SO DO INSTALL THIS :D

Mythotical
11-13-2007, 05:39 PM
Thanks.

I plan to fix that image in post stuff, I just need to add some code in a few spots for it to work.

IE 6.0 is supposed to have that PNG fix built in but from what I see its not. I use IE 6.0 as well but no biggie. Once I get done with this big script I've been working on for about 2 months now, I will get a new PNG Fix released.

The above still works fine with 3.6.0 (although hasn't been updated with the recent change made on the author's site), sorry.. ;)
but this mod is better since it does not require you to add a class=png to each png file.

Ok I was wrong, its IE 7 that has the PNG Fix with it.

I haven't had time to work on this mod. I am updating my other mods first then going to move on to this one. Usually peeps are using IE7 which has this fix included, but I only keep this up because you never know.

I dont think this code works...

Its not working on my forums: http://www.8wayrun.com/

Mythotical

The code works but right now I don't have the time to dedicate to this mod on updating nor the webhosting.

Jaxel
09-05-2008, 04:33 PM
I think it just doesnt work with background images.

Mythotical
09-05-2008, 06:33 PM
Jaxel: You are correct, the background is seperate than smaller images through out a site.

Mythotical

Unfortunately all of my mods will stop being developed as I cannot afford the vbulletin license fee any longer nor can I afford to pay hosting every month along with that yearly fee. So I am moving on to a project for the least part that will include me developing my own php stuff, can't say otherwise my post will be deleted and I'll get in trouble. But all in all, I thank everyone who installed my mods, I will allow for another week of peeps downloading and installing them before I remove them for good.

Well you created some awesome stuff and I for one, certainly appreciate all your efforts.

May you win the lottery and return to our sights free of the concerns of monthly bills, sir!!

^_^ Thanks for all your efforts, indeed.
