request: show total threads in a certain forum category

say if i had my board set up as this

chat: games, general
fun: jokes, funny pictures

and chat and fun are the catories and the four words are the title of the forums

how to install a hack that will say, somewhere in the page, how many thjreads in the chat category and how many threads in the fun category

instead of the how many threads in total, provided by the original vbb script which shows that at the top of the page??
