This style was developed by my firm Epic Designz (support@epicdesignz.com) as a promotional tool for a new site called YourIndex (http://www.2yi.net/). This style is free to be used on any forum provided that you retain the small promotional message in the footer (We made it as unobtrusive as possible.) The package includes the full set of PSD's, so you can make changes to suit your board or apply the same layout to non-vBulletin portions of your site. If there are any problems with the style, please report them to me in this thread, so I can get them resolved as quickly as possible.

Im assuming it has multi quote buttons?Yes, it does indeed have multiquote buttons.Looks nice. Any plans for a "fluid" version instead of fixed though? You can make it a fluid width or fixed width style just by changing the outer table width setting in the AdminCP.problem:
breaks big time with vbadvanced CMPS. any chance of getting a fix for CMPS?Yeah - I can install vBAdvanced on a localhost forum and get it patched up. It'll prolly take me a couple of days, but I'll send an update when it's in.

thanks alot i have installed it but i want it to be bigger i mean like this in the pictureLike I mentioned above, you just have to change the outer table width setting in the AdminCP. Right now it is set to like 900, so changing it to 100% will make it become a fluid width style that spans across the window.

I just installed vBAdvanced CMPS, and the style is working perfectly fine for me. Did you update all of your image paths properly ?
paths are working fine as long as the header and footer templates are updated.
However, when when using vba, there seems to be a table error on the homepage, IN the footer....(just at the bottom)...
Check it: www.onlinedebate.net
It's at the bottom of the page, missing graphic it seems.
It's fine for the forums: www.onlinedebate.net/forums
Why is it doing that?
Also, double-rep rating for reputation exists as well (as it does for most rc skins).

I wasn't aware that there were any issues with it.
apokphp
08-07-2006, 10:34 PM
I fixed the url, but the table error in the footer still exists (on both the home page and forum page).
Also, re: reputation....I don't think that's a skin issue. I've tested it out on every one of my skins including the vb default, and I still have the same problem:
When I click on the rep rating (to give user either positive or negative rep rating), the ajax popup doesn't go away, it just stays on screen. This results in the member hitting the submit button again. When this is done, the error message "You cannot give reputation to a post you have already rated" (or something to that effect) is given.
Not sure what that's about, but I don't think it's the skin's fault.
Andrew
08-08-2006, 12:17 AM
The URL for that image in your footer is still wrong - You now left off the "e" on the end of online. As for the reputation problem, I was unable to recreate it on my development forum, which leads me to believe it might be more a problem on your end than with the style.
apokphp

fixed, all is good now, ty.
As far as the rep issue, it was a hack (a reputation/star hack). I disabled it, rep ratings work fine.

Very nice skin.
And now for the noob question of the day. What's the best way to modify the header_left.gif (insert logo here) file. Normally I would open it up in Freehand, white out the current text, and then add my own. Something tells me this is a sloppy way of doing it.
I noticed the layout.psd file and opened it up in PS. I see that you can change the logo there. But then what? Do you crop it to the exact dimensions of the header_left.gif, save it, and then rename it?
I know this isn't a photoshop forum and I apologize for that. Just curious what the proper procedre is.
Thanks

ThanksIn the root of the .ZIP archive is a file named "Blank Header.psd" - You can use that file, add whatever logo you like, and then just save over the existing "header_left.gif" (It's already cropped to the right size.)genius!

I think you're reffering to the postbit - If you go to "vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options > Style and Language Settings", you will find an option towards the bottom that says "Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template." Enable that, and it should change the postbit to the left aligned one for you.hmm.. Can you post a txt file that has basic instructions for installing this skin? If ever were there a newb to this stuff, I am. But I believe you take the contents of the "Epic/images" folder, save them to your images archive on your server, and then install the xml. Is this right?
I really like this skin, and so far I'm not having very good luck installing these things. Need some hand-holding, if possible.
Andrew
08-15-2006, 08:01 PM
Yes - You upload the images directory into the root folder of your forums, and then you install the .XML file. For the style to be compatible with vBAdvanced CMPS, you will need to edit the header and footer templates and change the relative URL's (images/epic/something.gif) to direct URL's (http://www.yoursite.com/images/epic/something.gif.) You'll also need to change any references to the images in the Style Options for it (IE - The category/header backgrounds, buttons, etc...)

Hello
I need your help.
I try to insert a banner in "header" since hours.
With big 1152 x 864 this is OK.

What I must do that he is indicated Cleanly.
The Banner Code:

document.write ("http://www.wobchat.de/phpAdsNew/adjs.php?n=" + phpAds_random);

Ok I figured out a way to make the images directory work anywhere you potentially call it.
Original
<a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="images/epic/header_left.gif" width="250" height="109" border="0" alt="" />
Update
<a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/epic/header_left.gif" width="250" height="109" border="0" alt="" />
I'd suggest updating the original zip, that way it will work regardless of the setup. :)

I love this style but I am having a problem I can not figure out!
Here are some pages on my site that work:
http://www.timeshareforums.com/?styleid=5
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=63?styleid=5
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/sr_classifieds.php?styleid=5http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/resortsdatabase.php?styleid=5
But here is a page that do not work right?
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/index.php?styleid=5
I am quite frustrated as I love the style but obviously I need to figure out what is causing this...
Andrew
08-31-2006, 03:00 AM
The first problem is because you have a toplevel forum - All the forums need to be contained in a category due to the spacing modification I've applied. The other two are likely from a problem with the tables in your scripts. One little extra tag in there can mess up the whole layout of the style.
Quarterbore
08-31-2006, 04:17 AM
Well, you were correct on the other two as I did have a table that didn't get closed out and that was what caused that.... Now, can you explain more about the "Top Level Forum" and can you advise of a way I can get this to work?
I will fight with that code if I need to but I am just trying to understand how this all works...
EDIT - I am pretty slow and I have no idea why it messes it up but I moved my one forum that was not under a Category and it works 100% now...
Andrew
08-31-2006, 12:52 PM
EDIT - I am pretty slow and I have no idea why it messes it up but I moved my one forum that was not under a Category and it works 100% now...Yeah - That was all I meant with the top level forum thing. You have to have your forums inside/underneathe a category for the spacing mod to work properly.
Quarterbore
08-31-2006, 02:09 PM
I have this working darned near 100% but I have one last issue I have not been able to figure out...
When I visit one of my main category forums using forum display.php the page looks great:
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=65
When I use the index.php file I have problems!
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/index.php?f=65
I do not believe that I have modified anything in there and it is taking one of my vBadvanced modules and putting it into the table of the forums list. My guess is that the template that does this does not close out a table before starting fresh and this may have been the reason this did not work with forums that are not a child of some category...
So anyways, I love the theme and I will post if I am able to figure out what is causing the issue. Also, I sent you a PM!
EDIT: I am still trying to find what is causing this with little luck... I have posted some of my trials at the following link as we;;:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=198692
It may well be some plugin I have installed that is causing this but I just need to trace it down...
Lots of Fun!
Andrew
08-31-2006, 07:57 PM
When I use the index.php file I have problems!
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forums/index.php?f=65It looks like you've changed the code in the forumbit_level1_nopost template - The portion of the coded that closes the table out after the forumbits is missing.
Quarterbore
08-31-2006, 08:40 PM
Thanks for the excellent advise! I don't know how or when it happened but both my post and nopost versions of that template got changed. I reverted to the default ones and everything is working 100%.
Thanks for allowing me to "upgrade" this style as well...

Thanks for the excellent advise! I don't know how or when it happened but both my post and nopost versions of that template got changed. I reverted to the default ones and everything is working 100%.
Thanks for allowing me to "upgrade" this style as well...Don't mention it - I'm glad you were able to get everything working on your site :)

My guess is that you've mistakenly forgotten to close a table somewhere - Another person had a problem to that, and it ended up being a missed bit of code from a template mod he installed.
smallest

i get the same as AyeCapn. but i only get it on my front page - other pages look fine. haven't changed anything on that page.
the HTML editor in VisualStudio 2005 complains about "tbody" nested in "td"s, and about the style selector form - it's improperly closed. but, that's not it - i fixed the form problem and the display problem still happens.

Just wondering should we should upgrade to 3.6.1 or if we should wait for an update for this style before we do so?
Andrew
09-17-2006, 12:01 AM
There was only like one template that needed to be patched for the update, and it's nothing that will effect the functionality of your boards. You can go ahead and upgrade if you wish, and then install the new .XML file when I have it later this week.

Thanks Andrew.
It is really not your style's fault.
It is a problem with vBulletin, handling modifications.
vBulletin is running smooth with the default style, modified styles are slow.
Using "Smooth Blue" on vbulletin.org is much slower than the style "vBulletin 3 White Liquid" used on vbulletin.com.

By not putting your forums within a category, you mess up the table structures for the page and end of with that.
pickles21
09-30-2006, 12:49 PM

pickles21

could it be the way I set up my vB?
Andrew
10-01-2006, 06:54 AM
The "epic" folder needs to be in the first "images" folder - You uploaded the "images" folder into the existing "images" folder instead of overwriting it (It doesn't actually overwrite it really - It just adds the new images and folders into it.)
pickles21
10-01-2006, 07:12 AM
OK when I drag and drop the "images" folder into the /forums/images directory it puts it into it's own directory such as /forums/images/images and that's what I've had already done. That's why i'm confused...it doesn't say anything about overwriting or anything when I upload the images folder. It just makes it's own seperate directory within the images folder of the forums directory. Is this what it's suppose to do?
DragoZERO
10-01-2006, 10:56 AM
No. You upload images to your forum's root directory. For example, vBulletin.org's webmaster would browse the FTP until he goes to /vbulletin.org/forum/ and then upload images into that directory.
pickles21
10-01-2006, 03:26 PM

Andrew, I have a quick question:
I am adding more links to my navbar template and it is throwing it off. I am matching the code and changing the necessary parts. Here is an example with integrating FlashChat with my forum.
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="misc.php?do=flashchat">$vbphrase[flashchat]</a></td>
As a result I lose the nice navbar look.
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/8932/navbar1nw4.jpg
Also, once I edit the navbar a border is made around navbar.
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/7751/navbar2pe1.jpg
Am I inputting the wrong code into the template or is it something different?
Andrew
10-03-2006, 07:08 AM
Try this instead:
<td class="vbmenu_control_header"><a href="misc.php?do=flashchat">$vbphrase[flashchat]</a></td>
The navbar class used in the header is "vbmenu_control_header" instead of "vbmenu_control".
DragoZERO
10-03-2006, 11:07 AM
Alright, that fixed it but what if I have the following:

I am having a little bit of differculty I am waiting to do the same as above:
I have vbplaza which has a drop down menu and also I would like to add Arcade to the menu bar and I don't have a clue on where to edit, if I am correct I am in the right place, vbmenu_control_header.
Also what if I want to add another navbar underneath the one I put in which lets me add more mods in the future? Would that be possible?
Andrew
10-04-2006, 12:25 PM
The portion of code for the navbar is actually located in the header template, and to add a second navbar, you would have to do some extensive modifications to the templates and graphics.

Andrew
10-06-2006, 09:05 AM
There were no template changes between 3.6.1 and 3.6.2 that affected any of my styles, so you should not have any issues using the current .XML file (I plan on updating it anyways on Sunday.) When it comes to permissions though, you need to specify them via the categories and not the forums if you want to hide the entire section.
As for the drop down menus, I don't remember the exact code, but if you do a quick search, it's been covered a number of times (There's actually prolly a template mod that's been released for it, even though it's not really a mod at all...)

go into the header template, and change your class for the link you've added from whatever it is (probably vbmenu_control) to vbmenu_control_header...
I'd buggered with the code for a while, and ended up copying the format that's used for the dropdown Search on navbar.
Hopefully, It'll work!

it is named in the download version as: 'collapse_fhome_tcat_collapse.gif'
That is really strange - I'll look into that and upload a new .ZIP archive if need be. Thanks for the heads up :)
I was having a problem un-collaspe-ing catagories of forums on the main page too. Actually, in the zip archive it's named: collapse_fhome_tcat_collaps.gif
and renaming it to: collapse_fhome_tcat_collapsed.gif fixes it -- see before and after screenshots.
Sweet style Andrew, I want to use it as my main style, the board isn't up yet, and I'm new to all of this.... my website's been around since 1999, but I think the last time I administered a forum, it was a "Wildcat! BBS" back in the days of 1200 and 2400 baud modems, before there ever was a thing called a web browser :surprised: , but I think most folks around here would probably have to go to a museum to see one of those systems anymore. Anyway, going to give it a try and see what happens. Thanks again - installed.

the pages load up fine (had a problem with a forum without a category, but read somewhere else in this thread about fixing that)
Now my problem is with this YAAS hack that otherwise works fine apart from 2 pages:
http://www.bluedragons.co.uk/forums/awards.php (displays fine)
but if you click on one of the awards like here: http://www.bluedragons.co.uk/forums/awards.php?do=viewaward&award_id=2 the page is all shrunken to the left.
I expect this is something to do with it not having a top level category like on the forums error.
Also happens here: http://www.bluedragons.co.uk/forums/request_award.php?award_id=2
Is there anything I can include in the templates/php pages that I can do to fix these 2 pages from being corrupted? I would imagine I could put in some code to replicate the top level category to make the page work right but wouldn't have a clue where to start.
username/pass is test/test if you want to have a look.
I know this isn't a support forum for the YAAS hack, but this does work with the default style so can only guess it is a style/template problem.
Someone please help.

Thanks for replying, but I'm not too sure what you mean here? I only have one language which was installed by default US English, and this is the only style apart from the default one.
I'm not sure which "languages" you mean.

I'm still having problems on these 2 pages:
http://www.bluedragons.co.uk/forums/awards.php?do=viewaward&award_id=2
http://www.bluedragons.co.uk/forums/request_award.php?award_id=2
View Award, and Request Award...
Can anyone here please point me in the right direction to fixing these?
Fixed: on the 2 above pages the template had added extra table closing tags at the bottom which were replicated in the footer code.

Hello,
I installed this beautiful style in my forum, everything works ok in the forum pages but in the vBadvanced main page the top part of the page appears broken. Check it yourself at:
http://www.sportriding.gr/
The forum pages as I said are ok: http://www.sportriding.gr/forum/
I tried to fix issue according to this:
I found your problem in the footer - You messed up the URL for that background image:image:http://www.onlindeebate.net/forums/images/epic/content_bottom_bg.gifCould
but didn?t have any luck......
Can you please help by taking a look at my site and tell me what else should I check?
Thanks
PS. Thank you very much for the template, its one of the best I've seen!

Issue fixed and you can't imagine how happy I am! :)
I had to edit a bit the style's header.
I compared the "right" forums appearance with the erroneous vBadvanced home page and found out which images where missing form the vBadvanced page. They were "navigation_right.gif" and "header_bg.gif".
Then I found them in the header and entered the full path of the images.
So it seems that links in the header (or footer I suppose) in the form of
src="$vboptions[bburl]/images/epic/header_left.gif"
are functioning ok but links in the form of
url(/images/epic/header_bg.gif);
Need to have the full path in to work ok.
Anyway, issue fixed and thanks again for a wonderful style! :)

You may wish to do the same for collapse_tcat.gif as that's not showing for me on your page, just showing a broken image which is distorting your header.
The current link is:
http://www.sportriding.gr/images/epic/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif
it should be:
http://www.sportriding.gr/forum/images/epic/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif
It could be that in your options somewhere you don't have the full path to your forums listed? should be http://www.sportriding.gr/forum/

Yes, just saw that yesterday when I was checking out if everything is ok so that I can "air" the site, I opened it in IE and it was broken, with Firefox it just hides the "missing" images......:(
I suppose you are talking about http://www.sportriding.gr and not http://www.sportriding.gr/forum which is ok, right?
As far as I know there are two places in the admin panel that should have the full path:
1. Under "Site name / URL / Contact details", "Forum URL", this is ok.
2. Under "vBa CMPS", "Default Settings", CMPS URL, also ok.
Is there any other that I should look for???
Could this have something to do with hotlinking that I have disabled in my host?
Unfortunately I did not had any luck with editing the header or footer because I cannot find any instances of the broken images. I found only one for "collapse_tcat.gif" but changing it to full path did not have any effect.
I am attaching 2 images:
1. Epic style in Firefox:
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/1382/site3wc5.th.jpg (http://img259.imageshack.us/my.php?image=site3wc5.jpg)
2. Epic style in IE6:
http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/1232/site2pw1.th.jpg (http://img396.imageshack.us/my.php?image=site2pw1.jpg)
Andrew any ideas? Thanks
PS. I am using now the "Blaze" style as default also created by Andrew, I'm having the same issues with that too.
http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/7889/sitezr9.th.jpg (http://img396.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sitezr9.jpg)
PS2. I checked by FTP and the images are in the correct path, for instance "http://www.sportriding.gr/images/epic/misc/navbits_start.gif" is there! BUT if I try to open with IE (or Firefox) I get a "Not Found" page.......... Is this a hint that hotlinking is to blame???

Ok, problem fixed, some times you miss THE moste obvious things.....
It turns out the path (for whatever reason) in the vBadvanced page for all these images was incorrect, I just copied the images where it looks for them and now all is ok... Not exactly the best solution but it works so its ok! :)

There seems to be a small problem in Opera where the user columns while viewing a thread totally vary, eg...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/pact/dunno.png
If you look closely you'll notice the top user column is much wider than the bottom. Any way to fix this?
Still brilliant skin.
Any update on this problem?
The skin is perfect in FF but goes like above in IE7.
It's truly and excellent skin, I'd hate to not have to use it because of this issue.
Just to note also. All admins seem to be perfect, but moderators, Smods and normal users have the column bigger.

hello. I am a rookie here. I've thought I followed all these appropriate steps...and it looks horrible? can you give me any advise?
I also never transfered image files before....loaded FileZilla and followed instructions, loaded the images file from the EPIC folder to the images file on my site. In looking at the loaded files on my site....I went to the folder as follows: /www/images. This is where I uploaded the images file. So now the EPIC Images files are located at: /www/images/images/epic/ Is this correct? Could this be the problem?
I don't have a fully functional site as of yet...but if you look at it in the default you can see the general layout...then look at it in the EPIC version...ouch.
Can you give a beginner advise???? www.fishing3.com

I haven't had a response to this posting for a few days??? So I'm rewriting it and including three thumbnails. One is the first level, 2nd level (problem) and third level. I've also posted an example at www.fishing3.com for today/tomorrow. Please let me know if there is more information you will need. IF I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE POSTING THIS TYPE OF QUESTION/COMMENT, PLEASE ADVISE. Thanks.
When USING THE EPIC STYLE in 3.64 I am getting White/Blue Alternating Vertical Lines along the entire right side of the screen? This is only occuring on the forums where I go three levels deep??? Its happening at the 2nd level when Categories are used again.
For example:
Main Forum (Acting as a Main Category)
-Subforum (Also acting as a Sub Category Category) THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS.
--Subforum (acting as a forum under the above Sub Category)
Can you advise how I can fix this? I'd like to use EPIC.
Thanks again, Tom C

I hope I am not posting something which was posted before (but I did Search for this first). There appears to be a missing graphics file in the MISC folder. EXPIRES.GIF. This icon should display when a thread is moved and has a timed redirect link.
Has anyone else seen this missing graphic yet?
BTW - Great Style!

I've just created some forums which were sub-forums to another and didnt't get this problem. I can only guess that there was an error in your installation. It may pay you to reinstall this again.
Do you have any other modules/customisations running? I'd reccommend disabling them if you do, just to see if they are causing this.

Do you have any other modules/customisations running? I'd reccommend disabling them if you do, just to see if they are causing this.Yes - There are unfortunately a lot of coders who have been releasing some quite sloppy mods as far as templates are concerned. I know this has been the issue for numerous other people with this style. I can only guarantee that it works on a fresh, unmodded installation of vBulletin, so if you have mods running, you're kind of on your own in a sense.

I sometimes get this, the blue background will appear, then 4-5 seconds later the entire page will appear, a lot of my users think there is a problem with the site and will click on refresh several times which slows the entire process down...
I can only guess that there is something that is causing the entire page to be refreshed every time you view it, rather than display images from your temp files..../shrug

You need to set Epic to your default style or allow guests to select it - Right now I can't select the style to see the issue you're having.
My guess though, just from past issues I've handled, is that you don't have your forums set as subforums of a category. You need to have a category "container" for every set of forums for the style to work properly (The category spacing mod that I've built the style around requires this.)

I messed with it for a couple of hours at work the other day, and I can't for the life of me figure out why that's occurring in Internet Explorer. The coding is done in the same manner as all of my other styles, which don't have this problem, so I'm pretty much stumped right now.

Andrew something that i noticed... maybe it can help you in finding out a solution.. apparently, the style dispalys the header quickly and then waits to load the whole page and then displays it at once... so if the page have images or anything else, the delay will be longer.. because nothing will be displayed before the whole images load and then displayed at once... Hope this helps??!!

Plus, the style works fine in pretty much every browser but IE, which is why I'm thinking it's more of a browser issue along the lines of how IE is rendering the page.

Tested and removed. Another style that will not display a shoutbox - I guess not every forum requires this, but a shoutbox is a VERY popular addition on a great many forums . . . it would be nice if these limitations were made clear on styles which do not support it.
No doubt it could be made to work with some heavy code modding, but the sublety of the style would suffer in my opinion.
I've also noted that on many styles where a shoutbox (vbshout v2.0 & vbshout v2.1) will not work readily, several other popular hacks fail to display as well - eg: SHOUTcast display, Photoplog etc. I didn't test them on this style . . no shoutbox support is sufficient reason to uninstall, although I have to admit I'm disappointed - it really is a nice looking piece of work.

Been using this style on www.bluedragons.co.uk (http://www.bluedragons.co.uk) for quite a while now but have now run into a problem while upgrading to 3.7.6, There were a few table problems with the page being broken up but managed to fix them but my main problem is with the memberinfo page like here:
http://www.bluedragons.co.uk/forums/member.php?u=1
The box at the bottom is meant to have tabs where you can select each part, like About me, Statistics, Friends etc which works fine in the default template, yet I can't find out what isn't right in the Epic template to get it working right.
I've turned off all other mods to make sure they are not conflicting with it and have installed the default template for memberinfo yet I'm missing something somewhere else but don't know what I'm looking for. I'm guessing it is something to do with styles but again...i still don't know what i'm looking for,
any help is appreciated as I love using this style.

Fixed it.....
There was an outer table which for some reason would stop the code from working right....removed this and the page suddenly worked.
This template needs a complete rewrite for 3.7+ as a lot of functionality is missing like the new navbar menu's etc. I've manually copied them in myself but for the average user this would be a daunting task.
