Very good idea, but would it be possible (improved avatar hack)

It would be really great to have Avatars categories ;)
Lets say when you register on a board, you would have to choose a category (lets say a picture, each picture being the first picture of a category).

So if you choose picture A, you will follow category A hierarchy, and when you reach XX posts, you will have a new picture but from your category, each category having its own path and set of pictures...

WOuld it be possible to implement ?

You sure wouldn't want to base this hack on the Avatar hack. The two would actually be completely unrelated. For this one, you'd have a category (i.e. 1, 2,3,...5) which has corresponding levels of membership, upon which you would then have images corresponding to those levels based upon the category.

It would be much easier to write something from scrath than to try and adapt the Avatar Hack for this.

Sounds a lot like a user title modification for Avatars instead of User Titles.

Possible. I'll look into it when I finish v1.0. Although you might find the User Group Avatars might be what you need, which will be in 1.0.
