Custom Home Page

I’m considering of adding my own homepage, replacing the forum index page. I’m just not sure whether it will have an impact on the forum performance. Will some features stop working at all? Also, when creating the custom page, what extension would it have to be, .php or .html?

Also, i have installed a few mods, they arent really in use. But will they stop working aswell?

In the admincp (at least for 3.6) you can set the index page, which is index.php by default. Just change this to something else, and then create your own index.html/php/asp/whateverrrrr

and you can just link to the new page specified as the "forum home" or "forum index" or something.
