www.libertylounge.net

We're a community of people who like discussing and debating politics, hope that's descriptive enough :p

Looking for a review on the theme and colors and whatnot. What do you like, what don't you like, and all that jazz.

We just started on the 20th so the site isn't big enough for many subforums, etc.. so please take that into consideration.

Was there anything you didn't like / think could be better?

Well, i was surprised to see the no. of forums you have. Its a political forum with just 5 sections? :D

Well, like I said we just started out. We don't want to have a bunch of empty forums that will scare new people off by thinking it's not active

The goal is to create new forums as a need arises (likely when the userbase expands)

40 views and only 1 reply? :(

Hm.. strange choice for automerge

Starting at the top and working down then:

Your header is really well done. It is very stylish and very smooth.

IMO, your welcome header is too big. Between the header (nice size) and this, my screen is filled.

Perfect number of forums for the current level of posts/threads on your site. As activity increases you can either add fresh new ones or split some of these into two sections and repeat as required to keep a decent activity level in each forum.

I think your status icons are perfect as they match your style and theme perfectly.

Your postbits are very nice and keeping with the smoothness of the rest of the style.

The additional breadcrumb at the bottom of the thread is very useful too.

It is very obvious that a lot of time, effort and care has been put into the site and I can see it being successful.

I was worried about the welcome headers being too big.. I will edit it to make it a bit more concise. Is there a specific part you liked the least / thought was somewhat redundant? I've edited out the list to make it take up less room on the page, is it better now or still too large?

And thank you for reviewing it. It's nice to get constructive criticisms and advice from people who haven't been a part of making the forum.

thats better, but it still is too large IMO.

I'd probably teake out this lineRegistration is fast, simple and absolutely free so please, become a member of our community today! as you have said about resigtering a free acount in the previous line. Also, consider using the smallfont class for the text. That way you keep the same text but becuase it is smaller it doesn't take up as much space.

nice.

i would try moving the welcome to the bottom. people will always scroll to the bottom. this way it seems classier and non-obtrusive.

also, reduce all your fonts by one size.

Alright. I edited it again and removed a few more things. How's it look now?

The problem is that the original theme we modified has their "smallfont" cover much of the forum. Changing where it's used and placed will require some fiddling, but I'll look into it :)

Welcome at the top is kind of the point though I think, so any new guest will see it first thing and think about registering?

A good standard font size for reading is generally 11px or 10pt. I think at least the navbar should be resized a little larger. :)
