View Full Version : 3.6 Quick Edit Progress Icon on 3.5

I was wondering whether someone would be willing to create a modification that will introduce the little https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/12/12.gif icon which is featured on 3.6 onto 3.5.
It isn't really required on Quick Reply but on Quick Edit I think it is essential for those users on slow connections as it can look like nothing is happening when you load up and save Quick Edit.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi m8
You will need sommat like this (this shows all the time atm needs sorting)
in postbit
add this
<img src="path/to/your/image/progress.gif" alt="" />
Change the above with the path to your image
Before ths
<if condition="$post['editlink']">
<a href="$post[editlink]" name="vB::QuickEdit::$post[postid]"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/edit.gif" alt="$vbphrase[edit_delete_message]" border="0" /></a>
</if>
This is the info i pulled from .com
Now this shows the image in the correct place before the edit button
But i aint sure how to set it not to show untill the edit button is pressed,
hopefully someone will help out, I am hoping there aint a lot more to it
with regards to the thread ID's and what have you!!
Anyway, you get the idea?

OK, I have used an existing hack to get a loading message upon the quick edit being submitted, but I am still looking for the progress icon when quick edit is first being loaded up.
ANY IDEAS, ANYONE???????? :(

Someone did try to help, did you try their suggestions?

Yes, but that makes the progress icon appear permanantly rather than upon the click.
Thanks anyway Bashy btw.

You know all of this energy spent bumping could be better used trying to do it yourself or upgrading to 3.6 to get such a small feature built in by default ;)

Too many modifications to upgrade to 3.6 just yet. The advantages of it don't make it worth while for me at present. All I want from it is this small feature. :( It's going to involve editting PHP files and I have no clue in that department despite having a good look at it.

lmao this thread made me laugh.
What hacks are you worried about not working when you upgrade to 3.6? And, yes, imo, 3.6 is well worth the time to upgrade, and most 3.5 hacks work nicely, some you have to make edits, some just don't work but have 3.6 equivelant hacks in the 3.6 Add on section.
Just take the hour it takes to upgrade and upgrade to 3.6. :)

You should totally just upgrade. What hacks are you worried about?

I agree with the OP
3.6 is not even close supporting the hacks that are out for 3.5.
I too would love to see the same animation that 3.6 has. Surely someone has some ideas?

3.6 is not even close supporting the hacks that are out for 3.5. I have no idea where you get that from. Most 3.5 mods will run on 3.6 untouched, a few require minor tweaks. :cool:

You know, I gave a passing thought at trying to help you out. But when I read about 14 messages about you getting frustrated at volunteer coders not helping you, the thought just went out of my head. Bumping gets you nowhere.

Yeah, I was gonna help too, but then I saw all of the repeated bumps, all just a few days after each other. That was sort of a turn off.
