Pull Latest Headline via RSS onto Forumhome?

I run a website with a forum attached and would like to integrate either a news ticker or just basic "Latest News" box at the top of the forumhome page. If possible I would like to make it so that it pulls the latest headline from the rss feed from my main site.

Is there anyone that would be willing to give this a go? I suspect that it isn't that difficult, all the RSS hacks that I have seen have been a lot more complex and I just need the basics.

If you like, when i get some time ill convert it to a mod, but cant say when yet, would many ppl like this, or does it look rubish?

Ill spend some time on it if ppl like it(the rss feed updates daily, links to a page on your forum to show details, and then links to the origanl source)

Rss feed loacation can be modified(eg to the threads u want displayed), update frequencey, color, size, speed can all be modified.

what do you think of it, should I bother making a mod of this?

ok, well thats at least one person, ill get on to making it easy to upload, its a bit messy as it is, should only take a couple of days of neatening things up.

Yes. i'm interested. I run a financial engineering forum so having a rss feed from WSJ or some financial source would be nice.

It downloads the rss feed localy (after the page has loaded (ajax style) and only once per day... )

Works in java, can change font, font color, size, background, speed, RSS feed url ...

Also on clicking the link, it directs you to a page on your forum to display the desriptions of each title
