If you can see it listed in your plugin and product managers then I would say it's installed properly.

That code you posted is not in index.php, it's in the forumhome template.

If you have not touched the options then it should be visible to anyone. If it isn't then most likely you have a faulty mod installed that is breaking your hook system - turn off all your other products/plugins and see if it works.

You didn't mention header or footer :) - you can't do that as the code only runs on the forumhome.

It's designed to appear in the standard "What Going On" area of the forumhome - you appear to have a totally customised forumhome, which has no such section.

I had a quick look through the thread for similar - and cannot find an answer to my question. I've installed two of your mods and both have the same issue.

I'm using a custom skin, and cannot find the new display. I also have installed the guests version (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=131314)(as mentioned previously in this thread) and that doesn't show anything new in the 'whats going on' box.
However, I downloaded the 'unique page' code and that does seem to work fine - so the code is obviously working, but there is an issue - it seems - with my templates.
I've tried to do it using the default skin too - but this doesn't appear to work either. I've tried it on a couple of other skins, none of them working. Do you have any suggestions, please, as I'd love to have this functionality added to my site.

The template injection system that this display uses looks for the comment <!-- end logged-in users --> in the forumhome template (this can be changed in the settings). I would assume that this is missing from your templates - otherwise you have a broken plugin somewhere stopping code from running.

For what reason would you want to do that ?
Because guests do not have their timezone set correctly (or rather they use the server's timezone). And thus it can show skewed numbers (if the guest is in a timezone that differs a lot from the server's timezone).
Since my server is in Canada, this often happens and incorrectly implies that my site has only a low amount of activity.

For now, I am using the rolling 24 hour option, but it does not have my preference :(

Totally Agree as I have two sites. One that it works on and one that it doesn't. I also have Two machines. A laptop supplied by by employer running IE 6.09 and my machine runs 7.0.573.11 and on both IE hangs up but Mozilla works fine. A lot of my members complained of the same issue before I brought it up here.

Update: I've fixed the problem with IE hanging by uninstalling and then re-installing the hack in the Admin Control Panel > Plugins & Products > Manage Products.

Hopefully this easy fix works for others who are having troubles.

EDIT: It worked for a while then broke again. I have have no idea what's going on and will leave it disabled until a fix is found.

It is clearly not an IE7 problem or an IE6 problem, since several people, including me, have it working fine on both. The last time people starting blaming IE7 for something, we got the new crappy insert link popup. :(

And it's not an issue with the plug-in per se since many have it working fine with 3.66, including me.

It may be another plug-in or it may be a 3.66 issue - others are reporting slowdowns since upgrading, although I'm not seeing any significant difference.

I took a look at Lisa's forum and indeed got my IE6 to lockup with a script problem.

However, after investigating, I tracked the error to the displaying of the names and upon further investigation found that there was no fault with this modification, the actual problem was with the html markup being used to colour the names on the forum.

What I found was that she had an opening span tag to set the style colour, but the closing tag did not have the / in it (i.e. <span> instead of </span>). Because of the number of names being displayed by the modification, this resulted in a whole load of opening <span> tags with no corresponding closing tag - and for some reason this seems to combine with the latest vb366/367 javascripts to totally upset certain browsers (like IE6).

So, I'm currently satisfied that this problem is a combination of the latest vb clientscripts and faulty usergroup markup html (tags not being closed properly). This is why it only happens in a handful of cases. While Jelsoft might want to look at why their latest code dies in some browsers with tag mismatches, the fix seems to be to make sure your markup html is correct.

JFYI, Jelsoft are aware of the issue with the latest clientscript files, IE and username markup. I expect some fix will be made available, in the meantime this mod does have the option to suppress the actual names being displayed, which will stop the locking issue until such time as they do.

Of course, if you fix your markup html, that will also solve the issue ;)

Go into your usergroup manager, about the third option is "Username HTML Markup" ;

There are two fields, the first is the opening tag in which you have something like this
<strong style=color:#99001A>


You should then have an entry in the second box to close the tag - in your case this should be
</strong>

You do not have the closing tag in your markup.

for referecne in case someone else wants to: just change
$cutoff = TIMENOW - 86400;

86400 is seconds in one day. so just change that to however many seconds in however many days you want.

make sure to change text to reflex it~!

change "last 24 hours" to whatever time frame you chose.

again, like Paul says... makes last time they were on board kinda meaningless, but there are certainly cases where that is less important than showing lots of activity on your boards. :)

I'm having some difficulty with this plug-in on my MovieForums.org site. As you can see at the bottom, for some reason it is displaying awkwardly.

This isn't the first time I've used this hack; I have it on a number of other forums, and none had this problem. I'm thinking it's a templating issue that might be causing this, but can't see why it would do so.. any ideas?

Yup it indeed turned out to be a templating issue. I've fixed it now (http://www.movieforums.org/) and it's appearing fine.

I'm not sure why my designer removed the TD's and Who's Online/Statistic images.. strange.

Anyhow, if anybody else has the same issue I did, make sure it's not a templating problem if you have a custom skin :D

The features are all nice but i wish you woulld be a little more verbose on how to install the featured.


I mean alot of people could be using VBulletin for the first time.


Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager.

To upgrade from the 3.5 version just re-import the product with the overwrite option set to yes.


I can't make much out of these instructions.

Scroll to bottom of list of installed products to [Add/Import Product].

Click on that link.

Make sure you upload any files included in an add-on to the correct directory and note that some add-ons may also required manual edits of one or more templates.

Nope that template is present here are the contents...

I won't make any noticeable difference to your load, unless your server is seriously overloaded, in which case this mod would be the least of your problems.

Yep, I would say that's an error in the translated phrase, it's probably missing the '{1}' which indicates where the number should be displayed.

Hi Paul... it's definitely possible, although I'm not sure how. Not sure when you'll see this, but if you go to our forum right now... http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/ you will see that <^..^>Smokey Joe is listed first in the Total members that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours: section. Just click on his username and you'll see that it takes you to the member Smokey Joe without the <^..^>. If there is nothing you can do about it, we can live with it, but on our forum it is a bug. You might try registering two similar users on a forum of yours with this plugin installed and see if it does still does it.

You don't appear to have this enabled for guests ...........

Anyway, I can see what your problem is - you are using VBSEO to rewrite the urls and it's failing to convert them properly, it's stripping the <^..^>. from the name so the link for <^..^>Smokey Joe is being converted to /members/Smokey-Joe.html. You need to contact vbseo about the problem - you can workaround it by changing your vbseo settings to use /members/[user_id].html rather than /members/[user_name].html

Hi Paul M,

Excellent mod. I am having an issue where where it is showing different total numbers and usernames depending on whether I'm logged in or not.

As a guest I see:
Total members that have visited the forum today: 30
(all 30 usernames)

But once I login, it changes to:
Total members that have visited the forum today: 24
(only 24 usernames)

Is this a bug or incorrect behavior?

There is no question that the code is being run twice. I can only guess that one of your other mods is somehow running the code again. Unfortunately you have so many installed that I cannot even guess which one might be doing it, or how.
