View Full Version : 3.5 mod on 3.6

With the impending stable release of 3.6, I'm sure many of the users have the same burning question as I do - If I upgrade will all of my mods work on the new release?
I have a few mods, like the multiple login detector, AWS, marquee system, and so on. Some are user interface and some are back end that the users don't see. either way, they are all additions that I need and use and would rather not do without.
Have you thought about incorporating some sort of "verified to work on 3.6" stamp for all mods currently written for 3.5.x?
I would like to upgrade when the release goes stable but not with running the risk of starting over with my modifications.
Thoughts?
Most modifactions will work with little or no changes to the code of the mod from what I've seen, best thing to do is duplicate your database and run a test upgrade to see what works, then go post in the threads of the ones that work on 3.6 and which ones don't so other people know.

You should disable your hacks before upgrading to 3.6 so that you don't have problems.
Why not take one for the team and upgrade early, so that others can know whether the hack works for 3.6.
So far from what I've seen, most 3.5 hacks don't work with 3.6 despite what's been said here. So you have to wonder whether you want to be stuck with an older version of vBulletin if that hack is so important to you.

Mine have all been tested as wroking on vB 3.6 Beta 2.
I will test them again as soon as I can get my hands on vB 3.6 Gold, but I dont anticipate any problems at this point.
Im going to start new posts in the 3.6 section for my current hacks as it will hopefully save some "does this work in 3.6" and such questions.

It would be helpful for everybody if for your hacks installed, which you can seen from your User CP, that you indicate in the respective threads that they work fine or don't work with 3.6.

I disabled my hacks when I upgraded, then turned them on one by one to see what worked. There were 4 that I had to uninstall.
I left them all off until the major ones were upgraded.
At the present time, I have RC 2 running on my live forum with the following hacks enabled:
vbAdvanced CMPS
vbPicGallery
vbBux/vbPlaza
IBProArcade
EZ Archive Ads
And I'm running smooth as silk ;)
