How do I set it so it displays a value of my choice or a phrase?

I've got members who will be reaching the maximum allowed reputation, right now it displays images and numerics.

Do you mean the maximum possible, as in 2.4 billion (ish), or the maximum pips (when you get to 1,500).

Yes I have it displayed numerically and I mean when it hits 2.4 Billionish

You could probably put a conditional in the postbit template, but I would suggest you need to review how you are using your reputation system if you are reaching ridiculous figures like that, I can't comprehend how you reach millions of rep points, yet alone billions ......
