Would like to change something in the UserCP templates

Hello everyone,I wanted to change something in my forums User CP templates.I have no idea where to begin so i was hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I'd like to take out the UserCP options menu and make it a navbar with drop down menu's so each link displays the appropriate options for that catagory of the original menu.

Once that is removed i would like to make the area's of the CP such as the PM list,sig and avatar editing screens stretch to use up the space left from the removed UserCP menu.

I don't know how difficult this will be but any help would be appreciated :) Thanks

I have a port of it but it has been done as an exclusive release elsewhere.
