View Full Version : when forum is turned off,members still come in,HOW?

When i turn my vb 3.54 off to do maintenance,i notice members still coming in and posting.
what am i doing wrong and how do i fix this?
also is there any special way to make forum more secure from someone trying to take your site down?other than the normal stuff that is

Are you sure it is not just admins? By default, and design, admins can still access the board and use it as normal when it is closed.
Also there is a modification around here somewhere that allows you to set usergroups that can access the offline board. Did you install that?
Find out who exactly is posting, and check which usergroups they belong to, then report back :)

registered members is the user group and i am the only admin.
there is no place to turn on or off the reg members ability to view or post when board is off unless there is a place i don't know of,lol

On a default vB this is impossible, so something that you have installed will be causing this.
You had turned your board off so you had the board offline message at the top of the page, hadn't you?

yes,,in red it said forums was turned off at the top of the page,,,,strange thing is ,only certain people could get in and and that was ones using IE,those using mozilla couldn't.
the only thing i have installed at the site is a few skins,,no hacks

If you haven't installed any modifications at all, then I recommend getting this checked out via a support ticket (http://members.vbulletin.com/membersupport_contactform.php).
