Flashchat must be located inside your vbulletin folder (i.e. the same place as the includes folder) otherwise it won't work with vb.
If I had to install the "includes" folder again, would I have to run the vB insallation script also?

We're getting a bit off topic here, but why would you need to install your includes folder again ?

It means either you tried to call the CMS file directly, or you have a very broken Flashchat.

Well.. U can make multiple rooms within flashchat.
What I see (all the time) that people aren't in my chat anymore, and your hack doesn't display them. But I do see them in the chat. Can u help me with that or do I have to ask the dev?

Hi,
I installed yesterday Fashchat version 4.7.9 in Vbulletin Forum.
And.......
My site closed 12 hours after installing due to using excessive system.
Site activity showed only 58 visits in chat.
My evidences:
Reason:
"These processes combined, began using between 60% to 80% of the system processor beginning today at approximately 10:20 AM EST and lasted until your Web site was stopped at 11:30 AM EST."

That's the drawback of cheap, crappy, shared hosts.
Not sure why your posting it here though - this is not a Flashchat support forum.

Problem: www.u-connex.com/chat/inc/config.php is a blank page. Any idea what I did wrong?
I uploaded Chat & Includes folder to my server.

For some reason when i try to access it via the ..../misc.php?do=flashchat (from browser) a page loads but the frame within (where flashchat is to preview) returns an error page (default hosting company 404 page)
Anyone experienced such an error? Did i miss a link that needs to be modified?
I think (please correct me if im wrong) i have to upload the CHAT and INCLUDES folders to the server using FTP...
-----
I realized now that I need to get the flashchat from Tufat first (now i know what step 1 was referring too  )
Just to be sure, after i install flashchat from tufat, on the server via ftp, do i still need to upload the CHAT and INCLUDES folders that came with Flashchat vb integration.zip ?

* Flashchat can be displayed embedded inside a 'standard' vBulletin Page (i.e. not full screen).
Am I just reading this wrong? Everything is installed and OK, but I thought this hack would, when opening Flashchat, not open with it's standard full screen but rather in a vBulletin page; with maybe my navbar at the top or statistics at the bottom of the page. Do I need to create a template for this?
Paul M
02-17-2007, 03:11 PM
Further down the post you quote ;
More notes:
* This integration is for Flashchat versions 4.7.x and above.
* The automatic link feature may fail if you have customised templates.
* For Flashchat inside a vBulletin page you need to link to .../misc.php?do=flashchat
* This modification does not add any links to Flashchat Administration in the ACP.
Also, please click install if you want further help. :)

Paul, when I buy the HTML/AJAX version, how can I intergrate it?
Paul M
02-19-2007, 12:15 AM
AFAIK, it integrates automatically - but autologin will not work. Last time I tested it a few other bits didn't work either. Personally I wouldn't use it atm.
Eagle Creek
02-19-2007, 04:36 AM
I haven't downloaded it yet, so I can't tell.. But should I overwrite the current flash files, or can I run two versions? In either case: will it still work then?
Paul M
02-19-2007, 10:50 AM
I believe it is purely extra files, and you can still run the old code at the same time.
You really need to ask these questions on the Tufat forum as I don't support Flashchat.

Can't get it to work properly.
When using misc.php?do=flashchat it will try to load chat/flashchat.php/flashchat.php
When using the chat/flashchat.php the login popup shows up. It seems that it will use the user table from flashchat installation, not the vb user table.
Weird...don't know what to do for fixing this. I'm using FlashChat 4.7.9 with vB 3.6.5. I installed the chat as integrated chat for the vb 3.6, but it seems that it will use the stateless or default cms.

This sounds normal...its just saying that when you use the integration that members have to join your forum normally, or be added manually by you on your vBulletin, in order to be members on the chat. That's what integration is for. :) So people's accounts on your vBulletin are linked to the chat, so they don't have to register separately.

I did. In earlier versions of fc and vb everything worked fine. I had this problems since I use fc 4.7.x on vb 3.6.x.
As a standalone chat fc worked fine, only integration of v4.7.x in a vb 3.6.x failed.
Maybe I should use an older version of fc...

INSTALLED:
-Flashchat v479
-Who is chatting (for Flashchat)Version: 4.40
In my admincp there are two "flash chat" options in vbulletin options
1. Flashchat integration (1st screenshot)
2. Who is using flashchat (2nd screenshot)
Are these as they are supposed to be, or should I have more options?
settings I can't figure out:
-remove word filter?
-open flashchat in new "full screen window" versus embedded?
-change the link in the navbar to read "chat" instead of "flashcat" same with who's using flashchat add-on below. (3rd screen shot)
- in the navbar link..shouldn't it have (in brackets) the number of users in chat, and then list those users names once you hover the cursor?
ie this code (which is not present in my forumdisplay template). If this code will do the job..where in forumdisplay do I place it?
<if condition="$show['member']">
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="chat/flashchat.php$session[sessionurl_q]">Flashchat</a> ($totalchatters)</td>

Thanks a bunch!

1.There is no such option as remove word filter, I'm not even sure what you mean by this.
2. By linking to /misc.php?do=flashchat you will open it embedded, it you use /chat/flashchat.php it will open fullscreen.
3. You need to edit the phrase for the Who Is Chatting section - In the Navbar you would need to manually add the link, not use the auto option.

Yes, i have searched he permission settings for each usergroup, i go to:
- Usergroup manager
--> then all my groups are listed, each of them has the options:
- Edit Usergroup
- Edit Promotions
- Show All Primary Users
- Show All Additional Users
- View Reputations
Then i select one of my groups (for example: registered), and i see a screen with these sections:
Usergroup
Forum Viewing Permissions
Forum Searching Permissions
Post / Thread Permissions
Attachment Permissions
Poll Permissions
Private Message Permissions
Calendar Permissions
Who's Online Permissions
Administrator Permissions
General Permissions
User Note Permissions
Picture Uploading Permissions
Signature Permissions
User Reputation Permissions
User Infraction Permissions

Hi xLYNZx,
bitfield_flashchat.xml must be in:
yourdomain.com/your-forums-folder/includes/xml/
After that you go to your Admin CPanel, enter Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager, and select the group of your interest.

Sorry, but I got much trouble with this.
Today I installed FC v 4.7.10 - the current Version on a vb 3.6.5.
Everything seems to processes fine, but when trying to call misc?do=flashchat chat will return a white window.
When trying the flashchat.php-link I have to login...weird.
With the Who-Is-Chatting Mod chat will load but I have to login. And login fails.
Also I can't login to chat admin:
Could not grant admin role for this login and password. Table '****.fc_users' doesn't exist
Itseems to me that fc wil read from their own user table (fc_config, fc_config_instances, fc_config_chats, fc_config_values) instead of using vb table.
Weird...
Yes, I'd checked the usergroup settings and yes, I specified the CMS in config.php properly.
I disabled my own themes and skins so that chat should load only default settings.
Nothing works. I tried this on my forum and on my localhost environment too with same results. I have to disable this chat for now.

Secondary groups are recognised.
Its not working for me then.
My Primary Usergroup is obviously Registered Users and my Secondary Usergroup is VIP User. I have Registered Users set to "no access" and VIP Users set to "user role" and it will not allow them to log into chat.
The only way for it to work is for me to set VIP Users as the Primary Usergroup.
Also, what is Customer Role?

Then I know what your problem is - it's actually something I noticed a while back, but haven't got around to doing anything about yet.
The problem is that the 'No Access' level is actually the banned permission - hence it's full name of No Access (Banned Role) - this permission is the highest level permission, therefore if a member is in a group with that permission set, they will be banned, no matter what other groups they are a member of (which is exactly how banning should work).
The answer, of course, is that both a "No Access" and "Banned" permission are needed, the no access being the lowest level, so any access permission will override it. Now I have a reason to look at it again I will add this in the next few days and release an update.
The Customer role is for when you run Flashchat in the Live Support Mode - few people do that so I wouldn't worry about it.

You have obviously done something wrong,

This is NOT my first setup of flashchat for a vb, I use fc since v4.0.x and never had probs like this. This seems to be an installation prob, because fc will not use the correct user tables.

Mine tells me incorrect user name or password when I have it set all user groups to no except for the user level and the banned from chat.
When I set them all to no, just the background image shows and nothing else.
And when all are set to no except for user level access, the chat works as normal.
Something doesnt seem to be working right here...

I tried several installations with different prefixes like fc_ or flashchat_ with same results.
The installation reads existing fc tables (without a users table!) properly but in usage it will try to read the (not installed) fc_users table.
I dropped the existing tables and made a fresh install but also with same result: FC creates the required tables (no fc_users table!) but tries to read from its own (not available) users table.
I will have a look for solution on this @ tufat...

Is there any way to set this to open in a new small window so my users can Post and Chat at the same time? I have tried a couple ways and it does not work. I am no expert though. That is the only complaint, if you can call it one, that I have received.

Go to your navbar template and find:
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="faq.php$session[sessionurl_q]" accesskey="5">$vbphrase[faq]</a></td>
Then place this underneath:
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a target="_blank" href="http://yourwebsite/forum/chat/flashchat.php?$session[sessionurl]">Chat</a></td>
(make sure the path is right for your site)
this will place the chat link in the navbar beside FAQ's. You can plug it in anywhere you want of course. It will open the chat in a new window, and from there your users can re-size..minimize etc.
Don't forget to go to vbulletin options/flashchat integration and disable the "automatic link creation" or you will have doubles.

I made this change and it worked and launches FlashChat but, for some reason, it doesn't automatically pass the authentication through to FlashChat. My users are having to log in manually.
What is strange is if I use the link created by FlashChat integration in vB Options, users authenticate successfully. I like your solution because I would rather users have a seperate window but I would like the auto authentication to work as well.
Any idea what is wrong?

Yes, unless I am totally wrong, which with me is always a possibility. :P One possible problem could be that they have popups blocked on your site, as popups are required to fully log out of the chat. That's the first thing I would ask them, to enable popups on your site. I know there are other reasons this could happen, but that's one I know.

Hello.
Thanks For The File, the Chat Shall Be Very Good.
The Unzipped File DON'T Contains the "config.php" file located at "/chat/inc/config.php".
It'll be important that you review the Download Zipped File and Include all the Necessary Files for the Add-on to work Ok!!
I had to Disable it because when trying to access the FlashChat Link an Error occurred that Avoided me the Access to the Forum, fortunately Not to the Admin Control Panel where I was able to Disable the Add-on and Restore the Forums Access again for the Users.
I'll be hoping that You Include the Complete Version of the Zipped File to Download It and Try It!!

The instructions are a tad vague for an extremely casual website mistress like myself. Where exactly do I upload the "chat and includes" folders to? I have a somewhat unusual installation. My web root is the directory for my forum, thus you get to my vBulletin board by going to:
http://mysite.net
The chat folder that came with Flashchat was uploaded directly to this root, located at:
http://mysite.net/chat
Furthermore, the includes folder for my vBulletin installation is in that same directory:
http://mysite.net/includes
If I follow the instructions for flashchat integration and simply upload the folders named "chat" and "includes" that cam with this mod, I'm going to be overwriting a LOT of php scripts and other files installed by vBulletin and Flashchat that seem vitally important to the board.
Where, then, should these folders go in an installation like mine?
Paul M

You are making an incorrect assumption - you will not overwrite everything that is already in those existing folders, as the filenames are different - all that will get overwritten (correctly) is one file.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the reply and explanation.
The old addage, "You learn something new everyday" certainly applies here, as does "better late than never"! I am a newcomer to dealing with my own website but certainly not a newcomer to computers, having built my own systems for 7 years, tweaked operating systems for high performance in video editing, successfully dealt with rather complext driver issues from the pre-windows 98 days, etc.
And through all of this, I completely believed that if I drug a folder called "X" into a directory where there is already a folder called "X", I would completely overwrite the destination folder "X" and all of its contents. I didn't realize until a few moments ago, when I tested this, that only the files in the destination folder that had the same names as those in the moved "X" folder would be overwritten.
Have I truly been under a rock on this issue for 10 years, or was there a prior version of windows that in fact did not selectively overwrite in this fashion? I understand if you don't feel like replying, I'm just curious at how I ever acquired the belief that things worked differently.
Paul M

I have installed vbShout 2.0 on the main page of my forum and it works fine. I'm planning to install Flashchat in the same forum but in different page or subforum. Is this possible, having 2 shoutbox in one forum? Appreciate your feedback and guide.
VB Version : 3.6.5

When I try to add/import the Flashchat-vb-integration.xml through the Manage Products of the ACP, I get this:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class vb_bitfield_builder in (actual site omitted)/forums/includes/class_bitfield_builder.php on line 21
What do I do to make it so that it can? Thanks,

Any Ideas Guys?
Your Input and Time - in addition to your experience would be greatly appreciated !
Thank You,
Michael
1st of all - what a kick a$$ mod - THANKS!
2ndly - I'd like to make the line "Members Currently Using Flashchat" to be a link that will take them to the flashchat room.
Any ideas PaulM about how to do this. I've "tinkered" for a while now, and searched forums like this for at least TWICE as long trying to find the answer myself before I asked - but alas, I request your assistance (or anyone else who can shed some light on this)
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

after using flashchat the site starts to not load up some of the images on the page...then a refresh or two later and all it will say is "page not found"
quite frustrating.
usually restarting the browser helps. but sometimes it has to be restarted 2x or more.
any ideas.

Right thanks... just wondering if anyone else here knew. No worries, I think I'll just use secret channel on IRC and mIRC etc. with my community, unless anyone else can suggest a low-bandwidth yet private-enuf alternative.

My Flashchat integration appears to be otherwise working as expected, but I'm getting an error from, I believe, mod_security, when I right click on a user and select profile inside Flashchat:
You don't have permission to access /forums/profile.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Is there something I can do to solve this problem, outside of disabling mod_security (which I'm not even sure I can do)?
Otherwise, is there a way to remove the profile option from the menu inside Flashchat so users don't get this error?
Thanks!

Hello,
I just saw an e-mail asking how to have flashchat open in a new window.
I can't find the thread now, but here is the answer and what I do in my navbar:
<if condition="$bbuserinfo['userid']"> <td class="vbmenu_control"><a target="_blank" href="http://www.yourdomain.com/forums/chat/flashchat.php">FlashChat</a></td> </if>
Hopefully the person asking sees this post.

I'm sure I could have overlooked something in 46 pages of replies, but I need to know how to have this embedded in just one forum. If that is possible at all.
I've been using vbshout for a while now, in the radio forum of my board. I'd like to use Flashchat instead, but will need to be able to have it ONLY in the radio forum.
Can someone give me a hint, please?
Paul M

TBH, I would not recommend embedding it in a forum display - since that would mean every single person reading that forum would get logged in - a potentially serious health hazzard to your server.

Would it be possible to embed it in such a way that a person would get a login box, instead of getting automatically logged in? Is this even the right thread to be asking this in, lol?
We've had the shoutbox in place on one page for so long, it could confuse our users that like to chat.

Is needed to previously Buy and Install a Licence of FlashChat first for US$5, and Install it in a Folder named "chat" in the same Location of the Forum, before you can Integrate it with your vBulletin Forum!!
You can Buy the FlashChat Software at: http://tufat.com/

Does this work with all 3.6.x versions or only the later ones? Installed flashchat which works. Installed your files and imported xml. I see options in control panel and user groups. all is enabled and permissions correct but no links will show in nav or in quick links. Also doing the misc.php call to flashchat per instructions only shows the emoticon page and not the embedded flash. tried reimporting xml with overwrite and still no joy. any ideas? are hooks missing from early 3.6 versions that would prevent this hack from working?
Paul M

It says 3.6.x because it works with any 3.6.x version.

I did flashchat install. followed other instructions. however it doesn't insert link in quick links or nav (tried both options) and going to the misc.php using the call doesn't work. Tried overwriting the xml and reupping the files and no luck. I can use the flashchat ok if I go to the main chat directory so that means flashchat working ok. I'm on 3.6.0 which is why I asked. Figured some hooks might be missing from that version.
Any ideas where to look before we upgrade to latest vb? I wanted to get this live fast and test out before the upgrade.

Looks like a fantatic mod Paul. I am having trouble with the last step. This is the first product i have ever installed.
I go to plugins and products -> manage products -> [add/import]
When i select the xml file its says :
Importing Product, Please Wait...
[:]
and then doesn't do anything. Do i need to enable products? It says it will do that automatically for me. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, --jake

If it stays stuck on that importing screen then something is wrong with your vb product import.

Yes, it stays stuck. The activity indicator in the top right of my browser stops.
I tried loading the xml file from my pc and off my web hosting server. No difference.
Any chance you could tell me how to trouble shoot the vb product import system?
I am having a problem with editing forums since i upgraded to vb 3.6.6, and i am still working on that issue. Other then that everything in admincp seems to work fine. I don't think this would be related to that. This doesn't use the "forum" table in sql does it?
Thanks,

If you are using the "Who is chatting" addon, the HTML markups work there. Inside the chat, it's just impossible.

Paul, need another help here.
I'm not really sure if it is covered by Tufat's support or your script.
My problem is, custom usergroups I create are unable to login into chat. I checked the config if there is an option for usergroup chat access but its not there. I remember in the installation however that you get to set usergroup numbers at one section - which exact file whould I be looking at to allow custom usergroups access to chat?

I had a quick look at the flash chat fite Tufat.com for some reason the forum page did not seem to work.
In any event can someone please answer some questions for me please:
1: Do you have to install the marcomdia Flash plugin toyour browser for Flash chat to work ?
and what if new users to your site do not already have it.
2: Is it limited to 10 user per chat room. Some of the information I saw on tufat.com seemed to suggest it was limited to 10 users per room only.
Please let me know Ernest_Harold_Brant@Yahoo.co.uk
If you could email me I would be grateful Thanks

You can't do it, at least not via misc.php.
You can do it via flashchat.php?username=_int_&room=2 (or whatever room number you want).
This works wonderfully. One problem (for anyone willing to help). When I set a room to private and I try to join the room via the method above, it joins a room called "[null]".
Is there a fix to make it join the proper private room?
Thanks in advance.

2: Is it limited to 10 user per chat room. Some of the information I saw on tufat.com seemed to suggest it was limited to 10 users per room only. These are Flashchat support questions - but briefly - 1. Yes, 2. That's a config setting. Also, JFYI, I don't reply to any support questions via e-mail.

Again a Flashchat question really - but I would guess that Flashchat does not allow direct access to private rooms (if it did, they wouldn't really be very private).

Is there any known issues with sub-groups management for this mod?
I try to better explain and please accept my apologises for itanglish used.:p
(Scenary : vBull 3.6.7PL1/ FlashChat4.7.11/FlashChat Integration 3.52)
example : I do not want that 'Registered Users' group has privileges to use flashchat, but I want that a Group called 'Active Users' nested as sub-group to 'Registered Users' could have the rights to login the Chat.
Now at the state of the art this option is unavailable as if I try to set on 'Registered Users' group all necessary flashchat rights as by following parameters:
- No Chat Access=yes
(tested also with - Banned From Chat=No
and aftewords set the sub-group 'Active Users' as
- User Level Access= yes
this subgroup then should get access but it don't.
they only way I got to let it work is
- No Chat Access=no on 'Registered Users'
and
- User Level Access= yes on 'Active Users'
obviously the chat requester presented to 'Registered Users' is not the one ment, but it works.
Did I something wrong? is it fixable?
ty so much and regards
take care
ciao
Paul M
06-11-2007, 11:24 AM
A usergroup can only have one permission, if you set more than one then only one will be used (the lower one in the list). You must set Registered Users = No Access & Active Users = User Access (which seems to be what you have done).
I don't understand what you mean by this bit "obviously the chat requester presented to 'Registered Users' is not the one ment"
