Quick how to, make gradient_thread thinner

Im making my own forum skin at the moment. I have come across one problem though. I want to have my gradient_thread thinner than normal, however then i use a thinner gradient image it just shows the image and the background for any excess space to make up the height of the original gradient.

Can someone please tell me how to allow my gradient_thread to be thinner. See my attached image for more info (white is my gradient image and blue is the background in this case.)

I don't understand what you would like help with... sorry.. could you explain better?

I *think* what you just need to do is make the bg color in the class a color that will flow into your gradient graphic.. would this work?

That would work in the respect that it would be the same colour now, but it would still make in as big. I want to decrease the hight of the bar which usually contains the catagory name. Im told this can be done but i dont know how.
