News Fader Hack ??

Ok i've install the news fader hack for V2 beta2 and i get jack.. :(

All the custom templates are there and also the option to turn on/off the news fader for newbies, but i can get the damn thing to display ??

Have you got to turn it on ??? from the CP area



This is my first bash at VBB hacks :)

I'm used to doing UBB hacks which i have no problems with but for some reason VBB ones do my nut in :) :)

What version of vB are you using? I had no problem with getting the fader hack installed on v2 b1 and b2, however i got a javascript error, if i wasnt logged into the forums, you also wouldnt see the fader if you were logged out. I wish i could help you, but i took the hack off my forums, it slowed down loading time, and my users didnt like it.. sorry.

For Lost:
If you followed the instructions carefully you shouldn't experience any troubles. Be sure you have javascripting in your browser enabled.
Also if you need help regarding News Fader it's always good idea to post your problems in the thread where a hack was released.

For Joe:
You're talking about the old version. The new one will show News Fader for members only and they have a chance to choose whether to display News Fader or not in the User CP.

PEF, thanks for the update, i havent been fallowing your hack, i'll have to check it out later.

the admin that done the news fader hack to our site,has done alot of hacks to ubb...

He said its all in ok,but nothing shows....i will get him to post what he has done :):)

You have to be registered on a board in order to see News Fader.

Being a admin i think we is regged at the board m8:)

It depends on whether you wanna make it run or you didn't find this hack valuable. I may give a help hand. ICQ number is in my profile.

I don't know what i can tell you PEF M8 i followed the hack line for line and found NO problems in adding the code or making the templates.

I uploaded the .JS and the GIF to the server, and also read the bug bit where it says if you don't see the news fader then edit the code in the fader_setup template, but i still see jack all.

The only thing i can think is we have V2 beta3 will this course the problem ?? or do the JS and the GIF need to be in a certain folder ??

Yes. .js anf .gif files needs to be together in a forum root. Use gif only if you experience problems with Netscape.
