Upgrading from VB2 w/ attachments as files hack

It's been a very long time since I had to poke my head in here and ask a question but I'm hoping someone can give me some help.

I'm upgrading an old VB2 forum with the attachments as files hack to VB3.5 and I'm not sure how to do it. I successfully did a smaller board before by importing the attachments into the original DB before doing the upgrade but this site is huge. I have over 65,000 attachments and there's literally 9gig worth of files. I have to assume that this is way too much to import into the DB without corrupting it.

Can someone point me in the right direction to handle the upgrade?

it just seems that I'd run into some sort ofproblem making the DB that huge. am I wrong?

I don't see why it would. Your not uploading/downloading so size of data isn't going to be an issue. Then when you update you can change it back to files.
