I'm a rookie at this stuff, but I have been an mod and admin for a long time. My New posts function is not working correctly and I was wondering where I can go to look at the settings for it in the AdminCP?
I have searched through much of the AdminCP and found nothing so far.
Am I even looking in the right place? I searched the forums here too and didn't find much either.
Thanks!

In what way is it not working correctly?

On another board I used to admin you would post a new reply and then hit the new post function. You would see your post to that thread in the new post list. At my new board a user has to wait until someone else replies to the thread before it shows in the new posts. (If it does at all)
Last night I started watching the function closer. I posted a new thread and it never came up in the new post for over 2 hours, but someone else had posted to the thread. It is very weird and sporadic.

The new posts function doesn't show your own posts in the later versions of 3.0 onwards. If someone has replied to a thread and it didn't show, it's possible that the user was/is on your ignore list or a tachy user.

Hmm? At the old board we had 3.54 and this one as well. Myabe there was a hack installed? I do know the the users are not on ignore... I'll look into it some more.
To be sure, there is no place in the AdminCP to make adjustements to the new post function, correct?
I appreciate the kind help as well!

You can change it from cookie to database marking.
Out of curiosity try this
www.vbulletin.org/forum/search.php?do=getnew
and
www.vbulletin.org/forum/search.php?do=getdaily
let me know if that is what you are looking for

I will take a look and post back. Thanks!
Both links seem to grab the same threads and info if that is what you were looking for.

Yes, but the second one shows all posts today where as the first one shows new posts

Ah, I didn't pay enough attention. How does that work? Or is there a place to config the link in the AdminCP for how new posts are gathered?

you would need to edit the link in the navbar template to the one for todays posts (?do=getdaily) instead of new posts (?do=getnew)

Cool, that makes complete sense to me. I'm an IT guy, network, phone, PC's, servers, and misc. I'm not good at coding nor am I php guy, but I do like to learn anything new.
Thank you!
