Version 1.0

IntroductionPM Moderation does exactly what it says on the tin! It allows you to moderate your members Private Messages before they are sent.

Ever had a new member sign up and do nothing but spam your members with Private Messages inviting them to leave your forum and join theirs? Or perhaps you've got 1 particular user who constantly sends abusive Private Messages to your other members? If so, then PM Moderation is the idea solution!

CreditsPM Moderation was written by Alan @ CIT. The original idea came from Floris (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=4259) with the Keyword idea coming from an anonymous person. Thanks goes to everyone who helped test this modification before it was released, and in particular peterska2 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=43427) who did a ton of Beta testing, and fixed countless bugs in my dodgy code :)


Important: Unfortunately, my leased vBulletin licence has now expired, and I won't be renewing it until September which means I will be unable to reply to this thread, or update this mod until then. Unfortunately, there was a bug in vBulletin 3.6 Beta 1 which caused this problem. I would recommend upgrading to Beta 2, as it also fixes a number of other bugs :)

Will the user who sends the PM be able to see that his/her PM is moderated? OR, does it simply send (like normally) without any message/warning to the user? Or could it be an admin choice?

It sends normally ("Thank you, your PM has been sent") but gets put in the moderation queue rather than go straight to the recipients.

does it allow to open inboxes of certain member? just to check?

if my understanding is right, lets say you have 20000 members and you place them in private message moderation que, it will be a lot of headache manually releasing the messages.

also will it change the timestamp? like, i send a message right now, and it reaches after being approved by admins 5 hours later. will the recepient see the original time or whent it was released by admin?

smart users will figure this out and might create adversary effect.

that's why i wish it allowed random message check instead of sending them for moderation first, or "keyword" check by default.
no one can prevent spamming.

i can simply use an image to send my message without ever getting caught.

but if this hack allowed random message check, maybe i'd be in bad luck if admins caught my message while cheking the PMs sent in their forum.

The field that is causing you problems is not one created by this modification.

The error is being caused by whichever modification adds the hhroptions field to the usergroup table.

Is there a possibility to get this hack to show up the amount of PM's caught with keywords (awaiting moderation) on the control panel home page, top right with the other moderation summaries? That will make my life a lot easier, as I don't then have to go and check if there are any moderated PM's.

Never Mind....I got it....I just didn't do it right is all.

Solution....

There are 4 files that need to be integrated. For whatever reason (my fault) these files did not end up in the correct places. The files can't just be "dumped" into the general "Php" folder for the forum.
Some of the files have to go into the XML folder under the adminCD folder for example.

When I unzipped the folder to the desktop and then explored the folders and sub folders according to the original file/folder locations, that's when I saw what I needed to do.

the product would not install, because it said the table was unknown or that the was nor info in the table (empty). so i had to edit the product so it did not remove the table just the product but no i get a server error in phpmyadmin and vb backup so i can only think this is down to this table. can you tell me how i can force the deletion of this table???

Are you sure? Today, I found the same copy of the pm literally about 150-175 copies. Are you going to tell me this [good respectful] member sent it about that many times?

508 duplicates today. Tell me the person sat there and resent it 507 times additionally.

I have to sit there and manually check each one, 508 times because there is no "check all" to reject or approve option.

If I put "Register at http://www.myforum.com/forums" in the pm then the filter blocks it but if I have the pm title as "Register at http://www.myforum.com/forums" then it bypasses the filter and goes straight to the user unmoderated

Great hack, I like the fact you didn't put a message "Your PM has been put in the moderation queue" when sending a PM. Spammers should be attacked silently.

For those who oppose the hack, it's not unethical. Encrypt PM's if you worry about privacy.
