So I know a lot of people are arguing about the new modification layout, but honestly... I don't really mind it all that much. It's different, but it's got a good idea to it. Everyone's always going to be particular about change. In any case, I'm willing to get used to it.

Anyways, another thing people are arguing about is that the Plugins, Extentions, and Code Modifications forums are now all mixed into one. While thinking about this, I was thinking of two things. The first thing I was thinking was that I really hate post icons. Most evil things ever invented. The other thing I was thinking was... let's replace the post icon column with a new fields, what type of hack it is.

For instance, if the modification was in the extention forum, why not have an image that represents an extention modification. Same goes for the other modifications. I agree that it's hard to navigate now, and searching will not always get you what you want.

In the end, this is nothing but a suggestion. However, I'm sure it'd really help people who do not want code modifications or do not want extentions.... or whatever. Frankly, I will not touch a code modification. That's just me though.

The idea is to have the full hack database in operation, however, at the moment that isn't looking like it will be available for a few weeks at least, so we *may* look at some other way to group extensions or plugins etc. I stress the 'may' bit because we are still assessing the effects & reactions to latest changes. Rest assured though that all comments are being read. :)

No, the current set-up is not related to the hacks database.

There was a hack database in the vB 2.0.x days but modification releases were still done via the forum. They were only added to the hack db after begin posted on the forum (the author could add it himself).

The hack database the staff is currently working on will go far beyound the old one, and the set-up you see here now.
