I apologize for the lack of updates on this style. I have been unbelievably busy with the holidays and work. On top of that, my license expired and I was not able to upgrade my versions. ;) However, I have just renewed my license and I will be updating to 3.7.x. It is unlikely that I will be making a new style for 3.6.x. Feel free to make updates yourselves.
Jul 13, 2007
So I've had a lot of people asking me to update the style. Fine. The least people can do for my time in keeping this style updated is click the install button. Is it too much to ask? >_< Those that already have, thank you. I'll be slowly adding the different style over the next 24 hours.
Dec 15, 2006
A lot of people have been asking me to make a version for 3.6.4. Please note that the 3.6.3 version will work perfectly fine on 3.6.4 because I do not have any direct template modifications. Everything is edited via the css. I will make one, but I just haven't gotten to it as I've been really busy with work. I'll try to do it this weekend when I get a chance.

Added an update for the newest version of vBulletin, 3.6.3. Enjoy and let me know if anything's wrong.
Oct 6, 2006
Took awhile, but I got it updated. There were no major changes made, but at least it matches the latest version of vBulletin. Enjoy.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have seen dozens of websites who wear Kirsch and have removed the copyright notice. Andrew and myself have put a lot of time into this style and simple request that the copyright remain where it is. If I continue to see websites that have removed it, I will no longer offer Kirsch or Kirsch updates publicly. I ask that all websites found that have removed the copyright be PM'd to me. Thank you.

Kirsch has been completely updated to vBulletin 3.6.0 Gold. New styles for both fluid and fixed forums are available for download.
Jul 21, 2006
I have added two xmls for Release Candidate 2; fluid and fixed. This should help fix any template errors.

I did a complete port of this style so please let me know if it's all there. I didn't copy/paste anything; I completely entered in all of the information again into the current style. I'm sure it's all there, but just want to make sure.
I will continue to port it that way until they have released a stable version of vBulletin 3.6.x. Glad you all like it.

I'm not sure if this skin is the cause but on 3.6 RC1 I get a lot of Page Cannot Be Displayed errors and have to reload. This is on a clean install with no other modifications, I will switch back to my default skin and test to make sure it's nothing else but I didn't see any others reporting this issue at vbulletin.com.

Austin,
First, thank you for a wonderful style. I'm usually a dark style kinda guy (Black Widow being my usual default), having never found a light style that works for me. But since discovering Kirsch (thanks to www.siradrian.com), I've been using it more and more. And my users really like it. So thanks for the style, and for continuing to maintain it. It really is sad the number of styles I've had to drop during my 3.6 upgrade just for lack of continued development. So I was very glad to see the 3.6 update for Kirsch.
Anyway, my question. Will the RC2 XML's overwrite any changes I have made to the Common Templates?
-- hugh
evenmonkeys
07-22-2006, 10:34 PM
They should not. The only templates that are specifically modified are the header and footer templates. All other templates are vB default. In any case, I'd strongly recommend that you at least make a backup of the style as you have it now just in case. Usually when I say something bad won't happen, something does. Haha. I don't believe you'll have any problems.
If ya do, let me know and I can help you fix anything you need help with concerning the templates.

I like this style since 3.5.4 and I used it in my forum.
I installed this one today on the 3.6.0 Gold and it is working without any problems.
I also translated to Arabic meaning it is (rtl). I only edit the buttons and some images to Arabic and upload the .xml file as it is from the cp, I didn't have to change anything and every thing is working very good in Arabic and your copy rights are there of course.
Thanks for this nice style.

The problem you're having doesn't sound like it'd be from Kirsch. I do not modify the postbits at all. Check to see if your Legacy is turned on in the Styles & Settings. Then check to see if you allow signatures. With vBulletin, there's nearly a way to turn on and off everything you see. =D
Kirsch has been completely updated to vBulletin 3.6.0 Gold. New styles for both fluid and fixed forums are available for download.

The style itself shouldn't have any effect on that. Are you sure you have announcements active? If so, are they active for the forum you're looking at. I'd say to get technical support from vBulletin if it's still not working.

08-08-2006, 03:51 AM
If you haven't made any modifications at all to your style, you could just delete your current Kirsch style and upload this new one. If you have made modifications, upload this style as a seperate style, and then just add in your old information. Nothing was copy/pasted from the old styles into this new style as that's sort of against the purpose. It's a lot easier than it sounds.

I know that my style has a thumb in it, but I'm not sure why it'd effect your upload. How are you uploading your files? I think the reason it might be doing that is because of the type of uploading you're using. To be honest, I doubt I'll be able to help ya, but let me know how you upload your files and with what application if applicable. I might be able to help ya out.

Your included PSDs only have one button, one status icon, and so forth. I'd like a version for a black background, but I can't make one with just a few example PSDs.
evenmonkeys
08-09-2006, 04:35 AM
Those PSDs were created soley for updating this style alone. They're designed so that when vBulletin adds a new button, such as multiquote, the file is right there for you to type in a new word. The only PSDs included in this ZIP file are those that we used to create custom images. Otherwise, most of the images in Kirsch are default, while the style itself is compiled of various new color schemes.
I'm sorry. You're more than capable of using the statusicons that are not within that statusicon PSD and just editing them in PhotoShop, or whatever else you use. They should show as transparent.

Tonight is my night for feeling like a total moron - but what do you mean by fluid & fixed forums? I have never seen those terms before & don't know which xml to upload when I'm installing the template. I searched with Google and couldn't find an explanation either :(
nevermind - I think I finally understand it - I just didn't know fluid is what people call resizable
lol now I can't figure out how to get it to show as the default template for the forum /sigh
evenmonkeys
08-12-2006, 02:22 AM
Fixed means that it's 760 pixels wide and is centered on the browser. Fluid means that the sides of the forum span across the entire browser.

Thanks Yarub ... I guess the problem was caused because of the upgrade process.
I have used 3.5.4 vbulletin and Kirsch version for that release.
When I upgraded the vbulletin board to ver 3.6, I did not delete the older version of Kirsch and I simply imported the new one on top of the old one. That's when the problem appeard.
To fix this, I deleted the older version of Kirsch .. and installed the new one. Now it is working fine.

Hi Yarub,
My web host does not accept spaces in the file names.
I failed to upload the "Kirsch vB360" folder.
I did change the folder name from "Kirsch vB360" to "Kirsch_vB360"
This way I could upload all the files to the "images" folder.
What is the next step to install your style?
Go ahead as it is or there is something to be done with some of the php files?
Wait for a new release?
Regards,beishe8

Don't know if it's appropriate to tell you as I'm not a regular poster, but I had a problem getting the banner image in the header to display properly in the fluid version - but only in the VBadvanced home page. It turned out that in the header template<td align="right" width="100%"><img src="images/kirsch/misc/banner_02.jpg" height="82" width="100%" border="0" /></td> should have been <td align="right" width="100%"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/banner_02.jpg" height="82" width="100%" border="0" /></td>
Again, apologies if this is well known, just wanted to save anyone else a minor problem

If you have any modifications on your board such as vBadvanced, you'll need to have that set as such in order to work properly. Or you're also able to just set the entire address of the image. Whatever works.

I'll probably make a style for it tomorrow or Saturday. There shouldn't be any customized templates anymore. The only customization I had before was not having the commas on subforums, or the actual word Sub-forums. Otherwise, everything's default with the Kirsch color scheme.
I'll try to have it finished by Sunday night. As I said above this, you shouldn't need it. It's just for those who want it updated. There will be no technical errors or fixes.

Yarub,
Thanks for the quick response.
First I like to thank you for this great style. I spent lot of money on prof skins but eventually my members love this skin the most. So i uninstall commercial styles and use yours as default. It's very elegant.
Now, the question I'm asking is to add several button like on the top right (Home, Forums, Articles, etc)
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/7440/vbre2.th.gif (http://img405.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vbre2.gif)
to the top right of my forum, on top of the login box with the buttons having the same color theme of your style
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/3228/qnrt4.th.gif (http://img405.imageshack.us/my.php?image=qnrt4.gif)
The purpose is for me to get rid of the Home, Forum link on my Navbar and make it a more professional look.
Thanks
evenmonkeys
01-08-2007, 03:29 AM
Well, that's going to involve your header template. This can be managed via the All Style Options area or in the template itself. Depending on how you'd like it made, there are quite a few options. You can either break it off into another column, or you can float a div to the top right. If you have any specific requests, let me know.
It may also require editing the navbar template as that will have a break in there, putting a space below the header.

Thanks,
Let say i want to add the same 5 buttons like vb.org and have the button gif in my /images/misc/ folders
Here is my header template right now<meta http-equiv="Page-Exit" content="BlendTrans(Duration=0)" />
<meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="BlendTrans(Duration=0)" />
<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center" width="100%">

<td align="left"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" /></a></td>
<td align="right" width="100%"><img src="/forum/images/kirsch/misc/banner_02.jpg" height="82" width="100%" border="0" /></td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- /logo -->
<!-- content table -->

I would appreciate if you can point me to a guide or some pointer on how I can add this.
Thanks

01-08-2007, 04:02 AM
Yeah. That's going to be a bit more than what I'll know. I'd be able to do it, but it'd be really messy. Haha.
More or less, what you'll probably end up doing is making something like this... just replace the text with images...
<meta http-equiv="Page-Exit" content="BlendTrans(Duration=0)" />
<meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="BlendTrans(Duration=0)" />
<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center" width="100%">
<tr>
<td align="left"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" /></a></td>
<td align="right" width="100%"><img src="/forum/images/kirsch/misc/banner_02.jpg" height="82" width="100%" border="0" /></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="right">
<a href="">Image</a>
<a href="">Image</a>
<a href="">Image</a>
<a href="">Image</a>
<a href="">Image</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- /logo -->
<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open
$_phpinclude_output
It'd look like the attached image if you replaced "Image" with the actual image code. But like I said, I don't know too well how to do precisely what you'll want. I'd suggest asking in the Modifications Questions forum for specific questions.

Alright. Assuming that your problem is coming from the category strip being pulled too far vertically, in All Style Options try replacing this:
Template: category strip#869BBF url(images/kirsch/gradients/gradient_tcat.jpg) repeat-x top left
with one of these two (whichever looks best on your modification):#F5F7F9 url(images/kirsch/gradients/gradient_tcat.jpg) repeat-x top left#EEF0F2 url(images/kirsch/gradients/gradient_tcat.jpg) repeat-x top left

For some reason, when I goto edit a post or thread and then press the save button it just sits there forever and never saves. I think this has to do with the skin, because editing works fine on several other forums on the same server.
To be clear: The AJAX version of editing a post does not work nor does the go advanced button.

I honestly have no idea why that wouldn't be working. The editor and editpost templates have not been touched in my style. I don't see why it wouldn't work. The only areas of the Kirsch style that have been modified are those found in All Style Options. Nothing else.

Has this style been updated for 3.6.5?
evenmonkeys
04-13-2007, 06:15 PM
I haven't really got around to it as there isn't really a point to it. The only modifications to the style are in the CSS attributes. That means that there aren't any template edits causing zero complications between versions.

how can i change the font or font size?
how can i change the font or font size?
Go to "admin panel/styles/kirsch/all style options". There you can change all fonts and sizes. It's my favourite vBulletin feature because I can set unicode fonts and display in my language with no problem.

Can we get a 3.6.4 version?
evenmonkeys
05-01-2007, 03:34 AM
As I have stated many times, it should not matter as there aren't any template edits. It should just be taking the default templates from the global default set. If I have some time tomorrow or on Wednesday, I'll throw some together for those that want it anyways.

Is there a 3.6.6 / 3.6.7 version?
evenmonkeys
05-18-2007, 02:07 AM
As of now, there is not. The highest version is currently 3.6.3. However, the style should work on any version. You may have to revert a couple templates, but it works. Not really sure why it makes you do it though. o_o?

So I've had a lot of people asking me to update the style. Fine. The least people can do for my time in keeping this style updated is click the install button. Is it too much to ask? >_< Those that already have, thank you. I'll be slowly adding the different style over the next 24 hours.
