Hello all. Looking for some feedback on the design and perhaps even more importantly, the concept of my latest project. Intended to be the "consumer reports", if you will, of the vb commercial products industry. The focus of this site will be on the end user and their experiences or the ones looking for unbiased reviews. Most of you know my background and to alleviate concerns of preferential treatment, I will be holding off on listing my stuff there to give the other designers first run ;) Thanks for your time :)

I like the overall look and feel of the website, however, I am not too partial the the logo. The text is a bit too thin for my liking (personal opinion). I don't see too many websites using tan and orange well, though I like how you've pieced it together with your design :).

The only other suggestion right off would be to center the Google AdSense ads so they correspond with your other ads and do not appear out of place.

I agree with CAMS that the slogan under the logo is hard to read. I have absolutely no idea what it says :(

The forumhome is very ads heavy IMO, which is a big turn off.

You have a lot of empty forums, so I would have started out with less and added to them as the site grows.

I like the style of your style, but personally I find the color combination a bit strange.

A couple of things that puzzle me:
-> Why have you got the guest welcome message in the navbar and on the forumhome? It is duplicated content.
-> Your navbar buttons are unequal width. Is there a reason for this?

Finally, in your footer, you haven't wrapped the usercp link with the show member condition, so it is showing to guests.

nice website indeed. I really like how the orange goes together well with the rest of the site. It is easy to read to text and easy on the eyes and the ads are integrated well into the site. My only suggestion would be to move the logo from where it is now, and put it above the left sidebar where it says "forum information". Cause that spot looks like a nice spot to put your logo in, just a thought.

Keep up the good work bro ;), I'll stop by sometimes.

Nice job on the site. I agree with the others on the logo move... I've added a picture for reference... The top looks odd the way it is, if you moved the logo it would incorporate the style a bit more... IMO.. ;)

Looking at the placement I would also opt for the logo move that you suggested. This would look more tightly intergrated into the style and possibly look a little better. However, because of the small amount of space, you may enduce some cluttering and it could prove a problem fitting the slogan text in such a small space.

You're right, I think only the first half of the logo really needs to be in that area (like a slice of it...) just to make it intergrated into it...

I would put the logo in this image:

Other than that looks pretty good.

I think a re-design would be the most appropriate action to take. Everything in it's current state would still need to be scaled down dramatically. Problem with that is I've worked on the psd and the images are rasterized which means there could be a drastic quality loss when it comes to re-scaling them down.

@ John: I would create the vb signature with the pen tool so it's still in it's vectored form, that way, the re-scaling will go without any quality loss whatsoever. I also think that you should change the font on the main heading to something like pheonix and use a pixel font for the sub-heading/slogan.

I think with all that said, I would go with a re-design rather than re-scale everything from the current logo, it could prove to be a bad move.

Thanks for all the feedback! All are very good suggestions and I will play around with the design and layout some more and see if I can improve it :) I hope the design doesn't outweigh the purpose of the site and thats the review/directory system ;)

Not at all, it's easy to navigate. :)
