There are actually 2 styles I'm working on and not really shaping out very well. I thought an outside opinion was needed so I'll post here and get some needed feedback. :)

The basis on one color is far too overwhelming IMO. Either too much purple or red (depending on which you pick) :)

My thoughts exactly. The original wings series went with a 3 colour system and for some reason (beyond me) I've went with a 2 colour style usage.

Thanks for the comments Dean. :)

vBSkinWorks / vBImageWorks...I would try and get a more unique name, I dont know how John would feela about that.

I'm working with john, thus the reason for the domain title. Part of my custom service is to provide him with graphics that he may/will request whether it's for styles or standalone graphic sets.

Thanks for the feedback guys. :D

I've tweaked and toned down the primary colour (which I agreed that it needed toning down). If it's not to much trouble Dean could you possibly take another look and reply whether the tweaking was an improvement.:)

Great job Shelly. I think it's a great start, for someone with your abilities I think it could be so much more. Perhaps a sky in the header (like your avatar here) with lots of little smilies in it... maybe tiny icons next to some of the links. Don't get me wrong it's great but I just think it needs more of a theme to show off your work...

The style was prity much rushed (2 days) and still I'm not happy with it. I think the style is going to be temporary untill the forum has established itself a little. Once I've finished writing up the documentation and whatnot I'll be spending more time in creating a style that atleast reflects my abilities. In it's current state, the style itself is nothing short of disastrous. :)

Thanks for the comments. :)

It's not that bad Shelley :). I do agree with Dean on the colors. Also, I am a big fan of the pale/lighter colors that you have used, however, there is a advantage and disadvantage to using colors like that as I have come to notice on my own designs.

The advantage is that no part of the design tries to gather too much attention to itself, meaning that the visitor has room to check out everything and not be distracted by another thing in the page.

The disadvantage is that the colors are too soft and calm, and these colors may not really show the true activity of your forums or the busyness of it, as the smooth colors really show a calm place instead of a busy place (not sure if I'm making sense here, but I hope you get the idea) ;).

but again, looking at the wings (fire) style, it is a good opposite balance and if you let users pick either one, it will be good cause the name of the skins really describe what they really are.

Keep up the good work Shelley :)

Thanks for the comments Sean. I've seen your latest design and have to say it really got me thinking of starting over again. So I'll certainly take your comments and hopefully implement them into an updated style, possibly a re-design (only this time I'll spend more time on colour usage).

The way I thought (in the early stages) was that the graphics which were going to compliment the style would bring out the theme a little (unfortunately it didn't) I still think if a 3rd color was implemented this might be whats missing.

Thanks again for the suggestions Sean. :)

oh no problem Shelley, thank you. And yes I definetly agree with what you said about implementing a 3rd color in there. Keep up the good work Shelley :)
