Upgrading from 3.0.7 to 3.0.14

How hard is this to do with hacks installed?

Do I basically just have to do the normal vbulletin upgrade, and then go through all my hacks and see which ones don't work, and figure out why? Is it mostly going to be redoing the templates?

I'm wondering if I should attempt this myself or if I should look for someone to pay to do it. Any advice?

You didn't mention what hacks you have so it is hard to say what you will have to do.
For any hacks which required code modifications you will have to re-hack your vbulletin files to make them work again, also template chages for those hacks as well.

I would recomend you check for the newest release of the hacks you use, download them and read the install directions. That will give you a good idea what is involved in your upgrade.

--vBadvanced CMPS v2.0 RC2
--Trader Ratings 1.2.0
--Links and Files 1.60
--Erwin's form hack
--Logicians Webtemplates (haven't used this yet)
--ecDownloads 3.2 (would also like to uninstall this)
--vB Survey (UCCASS) that I just installed and haven't done anything with yet
--Dynamic Forum Announcements (haven't set those up yet either)

I'm going to go through and attempt to uninstall the ones I don't use before I try to upgrade. I think that might make it less complicated for me. I'm still really scared to do this. :lol

Hi there,

last night I had to upgrade my forums from 3.0.3 to 3.0.14. Basically what I did I downloaded this program "beyond compare" http://www.scootersoftware.com/ (demo version).

Then what I did was that I compared all the files within the following folders,
/admincp
/includes
/includes/cron
root folder

from that program I was able to port all my hacks without any problem to the upgrade.

However, the only problem that came through was that some custom phrases went missing so I had to reinstall the phrases.

I did it this way because I had couple of custom hacks installed that I didn't want to lose,

one of them was the webpage & guestbook script.

Looks like you will mainly doing some template edits. Thats good for you. :)
