It only allows for daily or weekly emails at the moment. And don't give me that 'server load' crap, the forum is not that busy, especially since you can't reply to threads in it.
That would require a Modification.. vBulletin by deafult doesn't allow instant notification for Forum Subscriptions.
AFAIK, anyway.

Please keep in mind that this server is sending and getting a ton of e-mails dialy as is. I don't think we can add this because the jump in server load would not be acceptible just for something like this.
This was change in vBulletin a long time ago, and it was done for a good reason.

On every forum I agree. I'm talking about on this ONE forum, which is relatively low traffic and doesn't even allow replies.

There is a reason the system is queued, and that is to prevent the emails being sent out at too many for the server to handle at one time...

Okay :cross-eyed:
I'm beginning to see how some people get frustrated with making suggestions.
Look at the attachment. 6 posts in the last day, all with 0 replies. There is no server load issue here, as I clearly stated in my very first post, yet you keep throwing up that answer instead of talking the time to think about it.

The issue is not with the single forum - It is to do with the system as a whole...

But I'm talking about enabling it for just that one forum.

I know what you are talking about, I'm saying that enabling it for that one forum will still effect the system as a whole...

But I'm talking about enabling it for just that one forum. It doesn't matter that it's only one forum - if 1000 members subscribe to that forum, then that's still 6000 e-mails for todays six threads, which is not an insignificant amount.

If a thousand members subscribe to anything you have the same issue. Why on earth do you think a thousand members would do that? Have you checked to see how many members have subscribed right now? Do you have any real numbers to back this up?
Look, I'm not in love with this idea or anything, it was just a suggestion. But, the reason I'm reacting like this is the response feels like just rote argument.
Thank the high heavens this has been brought up again.
I've been wishing for this on my site since '01 and I hear the same ole story.
I think it's preposterous to assume that every thread or forum we create is going to have 6000 subscribers.
And so what if they did? ... I thought this is what a forum is supposed to wish for?
Imagine if the postman told you that delivering the mail to your home was too complicated.
Imagine if your ISP required you to go to go to your website to read your email.
Imagine if you put your faith in brillant minds, working with cutting edge technology to provide you with incredible tools for developing interactive communities ... and yet are unable to provide a means for members to choose to receive simply texted individual email notifications at their home computer. :(
For my site, not providing a means for members to choose to receive Individual Emails along with a one stop Forums Subscriptions Management Page has been the primary cause for a dysfunctional member visiting and posting activity.
Well, there's a silver lining behind my cloud of dissapointment with vB.
- A quieter Forums has given me the time to add content and info over the years and as a result our guest traffic continues to grow and grow and grow along with our dysfunctional membership :)

Heh. It seems that some of the staff here feel themselves superior to the members in terms of anything at all vbulletin related.
They don't even bother to read the content of posts themselves, but instead bombard you with stock responses that are a load of rubbish, and that must be right because they say so.
Its stupid to think 1000 members are going to suscribe to threads like this. Not naive, just plain stupid.
Heres my thread yesterday where Paul M took it upon himself to decide legalities!
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=117234
This forum is like a warzone at times for good reason; the communication between members and some of the staff is appalling.
May I add, that as a new vbulletin customer with a couple of medium to large sized boards, this reflects poorly upon the management of Jelsoft as a whole. The software is great, some of the people here are awesome, but the fact some mods here wouldn't qualify to moderate on some of my forums is disappointing.
Don't talk down at us. We are not children.
hambil ...
sorry to jump your thread as your question is specific to it's use at this forum...
but I couldn't resist.
sambah ... I appreciate your thoughts but my feelings aren't being directed to the staff or how this site is run.
I just feel that it's perposperous that this incredible software is not able to provide it's dedicated membership with individual emails on demand, provides no user subscriptions management interface, does not provide a means for an admin to monitor subscriptions levels or provide usage performance management tools that can operate in accordance to a servers/webhosts requirements.
Thus this challenge to vB, .org, coders ... :)

Don't talk down at us. We are not children. Please try not to act like one.
The number was clearly posted as an example, there is nothing stupid about it.

This feature is built into vBulletin 3.6 so this site will inherit it when they get the code here. This server also runs almost all the vBulletin sites... vBulletin.com, vBulletin.org are two of the sites.

By golly Wayne, I'm biting my tongue so to speak, wanting to ask you a number of things, but am glad to hear of this news and will await for more details as it becomes available.
Thanks,
Mark
